With oversight from supervisor, the HCA Team Leader provides direct supervision to HCAs to assure they are providing high quality clinical care, providing excellent customer service to patients and colleagues, and complying with standardized workflows and procedures.
 
The Team Leader helps coordinate staff schedules, reports on operational metrics and assists staff in implementing changes to procedures. The Team Leader conducts regular observations, shares appropriate feedback, and provides onboarding and continuous training of HCA staff. The Team Leader works collaboratively with all health center staff to achieve patient satisfaction and meet health center efficiency goals.
 
Performs all HCA duties as scheduled.
Compensation: $23/hour

Commitment: 37.5 hours/week

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    •   Under guidance and direction of manager:
    • Assists in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and coordinating training of new HCAs.
    • Drafts and delivers performance reviews for staff in accordance with PPLM standards.
    • Holds HCA staff accountable for accuracy of job functions by providing ongoing coaching to staff, including disciplinary action.
    • Conducts observations and delivers ongoing feedback to HCA staff.
    • Demonstrates leadership in implementing change and improvements in the health centers.
    • Under leadership of HC Training Coordinator, provides continuity of training to existing staff in accordance to training guidelines and supports health center management in ongoing observations and competency reviews.
    • Manages flow of the health center.
    • Facilitate daily briefs, debriefs, and huddles as assigned
    • Manages daily staff call outs, task assignments, and break coverage.
    • Reviews and approves HCA timecards and attendance in accordance with PPLM policy.
    • Continued exemplary performance in HCA job functions, as outlined in the Health Care Assistant (HCA) job description.
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Must be willing and able to work as a Health Care Assistant (HCA) for approximately 75% of scheduled hours.
    • Must be able to bend and reach for stocking inventory and supplies in procedure/exam rooms and respond to patient care needs.
    • Must have oral, auditory, and visual ability to ensure solid patient communication.
    • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and have sufficient stamina to move efficiently throughout the health center for 90% of scheduled shift.
    • Participation in PPLM’s efforts to achieve goals for productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma/GED required
    • Medical Assistant or related certification preferred; experience as a Health Care Assistant (HCA) highly preferred
    • 3-5 years of health care, training, and/or supervisory experience preferred
    • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish, Portuguese or Mandarin strongly preferred)
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • Effective communication skills and an ability to engage with a diverse patient population
