POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Community Outreach Organizer
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt 
ANNUAL SALARY: $58,630 per year

Position Description
The Bilingual Community Outreach Educator uses skills obtained through experience and training to develop, implement and evaluate education and outreach programs within a specified service area in both English and Spanish.  Provides reproductive and sexual health education programs to youth, parents, community groups, professionals schools (and more) in support of Planned Parenthood of Michigan’s (PPMI) objective of providing comprehensive, medically-accurate, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally-responsive sexuality education and health care services. Reports directly to the Bilingual Education Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
●      Advanced receptive and expressive fluency in Spanish
●      Written Spanish proficiency
●      One to two years public speaking or group facilitation experience
●      Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across differences, as well as hear and act on feedback related to identity and equity with an openness to learn.
●      Commitment to Planned Parenthood's In This Together service ethos, workplace values, and service standards.

●      Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Sexuality, Family Life Education, Gender Studies, Health and Human Services, Community Health Education, Sociology, or similar
●      OR
●     At least three years experience in education and/or health/sexuality education, youth development or related field. Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
●      All Education staff are expected to consistently integrate and assess the Education Department’s Race Equity Framework within all programs, roles, and duties as assigned.
 
Education Services
●    Utilize facilitation and presentation best practices to plan and implement sexual health and related presentations, trainings, meetings and other events by… 
o   Translate and adapt English material for Spanish audiences.  
o   Designing, Implementing and facilitating various existing Youth, Parent, Adult, Community and/or Peer Education Programs and Advisory Councils in English and Spanish as applicable.
o   Adhering to state and federal laws pertaining to sex education.
o   Following PPMI risk management practices to best ensure the safety and well being of one’s self, program participants, and volunteers.
o   Developing and implementing new evidence-based educational programs for Planned Parenthood of Michigan’s subsidized and unsubsidized programs.
o   Gathering and utilizing community feedback generated from various program evaluation strategies to customize education services to meet the needs of the service region (i.e. coalitions, community partners, community advisory boards, program surveys, etc.).
o   Researching, adopting, and adapting programs to meet community needs (i.e. through needs assessments, etc.).
o   Monitoring grant and program progress by tracking goals, activities, and data and generating quarterly reports. Provides additional reporting per affiliate and grant funding requirements.
o   Aligning program activities and work priorities with affiliate, grant and department goals.
o   Ensuring all sexual health program content and delivery is aligned with and informed by the National Sex Education Standards and Professional Learning Standards.
o   Developing fee for service programs as applicable.
o   Maintaining current and accurate records and documentation of all activities.
o   Monitoring and tracking regional budgets and expenses in accordance with grant funding and the education department’s annual budget.
o   Annually setting individual goals/creating work plans with supervisor aligned with regional grants, community needs, department goals, and affiliate strategic plan.
o   Assist in the onboarding and training of new education staff in core content areas/programs/department functions as applicable.
 
Community Outreach
●       Advance and promote PPMI programs and services in conjunction with other departments by…
o   Seeking out, identifying, building, and maintaining relationships with key community leaders and stakeholders.
o   Participating in community events to increase awareness of PPMI services and support community partners (i.e. building reciprocal community partnerships, not transactional relationships).
o   Engaging community partners in PPMI educational programs and advisory councils.
o   Engaging with community members to identify their sexual health education needs/interests.
o   Connecting community members with PPMI education programs as appropriate to meet unmet sexual health education needs
o   Represent PPMI at health fairs, on community coalitions, and at other special events to a variety of constituents (including donors, community officials, partner agencies and others).
o   Helping to develop, distribute and/or promote marketing and social media materials with the Communications department. 
●      Develop and execute marketing strategies in accordance with state and federal laws to promote and secure program sites and approval (schools, community organizations, etc) for curriculum implementation by….
o   Identifying and engaging with key decision-makers within school districts and organizations to introduce and advocate for sexual health education programs.
o   Present curriculum materials and demonstrate their value in enhancing sexual health education and meeting district standards.
