PAY RATE STARTING AT: $90,000 per year

Position Description
Plays a central role in the development, direction, and oversight of Planned Parenthood of Michigan’s (PPMI’s) finance and accounting activities.  Under the leadership of the CFO and Controller, the Assistant Controller will assist in the overall efficient functioning of PPMI’s Accounting Department, creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization.  Responsibilities include maintaining PPMI’s general ledger(s), treasury management, inter-company reconciliations and public grant administration. Provides support in the administration of other accounting cycles, preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports, and audit as needed.
 

Essential Functions
·       Oversee and direct the accounts payable process
·       Record revenue in an efficient and accurate manner
·       Provide assistance in all budget preparation, construction, review and follow-ups
·       Participate in the preparation for various audits
·       Treasury management, including bank reconciliations and cash flow management
·       Reconcile revenue and expenses with other departments and systems
·       Provide backup for other accounting functions, as needed
·       Assist monthly and annual financial close process
·       Prepare monthly accruals, account reconciliations, and intercompany entries
·       Help establish and maintain organizational accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
·       Provide oversight and administration of public grants
·       Provide secondary oversight, as needed, of other accounting processes such as payroll, etc.
·       Provide excellent customer and internal support for any accounting related emails or queries
·       Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
·       Assist in the development and maintenance of timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Qualifications and Experience
Required
·       Minimum Degree Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or Finance with significant Accounting coursework
·       At least 5 to 7 years of professional level accounting experience.  Prior non-profit accounting experience is a plus.  Prior financial reporting and analytic experience that includes: working with subsidiary ledgers, preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing general ledger account analyses, preparing financial models, budgeting, preparing schedules and reports for program staff, funding sources, and external auditors.
·       Knowledge of GAAP
·       Knowledge of industry standard internal accounting controls and accounting transaction processing policies and procedures.
·       Skill in operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.  Extensive experience working with spreadsheet and data functions in Excel.  Experience downloading and updating data to / from Excel. 
·       Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives in collaboration with other functional areas.
