ANNUAL SALARY: $81,800 per year

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Some travel may be required to health centers within defined region

Position Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, uses advanced skills gained through training and
experience to provide quality patient care in collaboration with a team of physicians, clinicians, and
medical assistants. Provides regular nurse coverage in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. Uses the Medical
Standards and Guidelines to guide their nursing practice. Adheres to Planned Parenthood of Michigan
(PPMI) established policies and procedures. Provides patient-centered and trauma informed care to all
patients in support of the “Care, No Matter What” mission.

Essential Functions
● Utilizes available resources such as the Planned Parenthood Medical Standards and Guidelines, and
affiliate clinical procedures to establish a plan of care specific to each patient’s needs.
● Effectively and accurately communicates with patients, providing patient-centered anticipatory
guidance and discharge teaching.
● Reviews patient’s medical history to ensure appropriateness of care.
● Administers mild and moderate sedation under the direct supervision of a physician.
● Adheres to all policies and procedures related to medication management. Maintains accurate
inventory of all controlled substances, clearly documenting dose counts as they are administered or
wasted.
● Delivers adjunct and non-pharmaceutical pain management to patients undergoing reproductive
health procedures.
● Performs and documents clinical assessments prior to, during, and following procedures. Uses the
information collected via these assessments to guide each patients care.
● Performs routine nursing tasks including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, placing IV
catheters, performing blood draws, providing patient education and support.
● Assess patient’s readiness for discharge following sedation and reproductive health procedures.
● Prepares and dispenses medications for at-home use, such as oral contraceptive pills or antibiotics, to
patients with a provider order.
● Delegates appropriate patient care tasks and oversees care provided by non-licensed staff.
● Completes accurate, thorough, real-time medical record documentation.
● Contributes to the maintenance of the clinical environment through performing regular audits, ordering
and restocking medications and other clinical supplies as directed.
● Promotes patient and team satisfaction by employing efficient practices and workflows.
● Maintains professional competence, including BLS certifications.
● Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

● Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
