POSITION TITLE: Accounting Analyst II
LOCATION:  Ann Arbor, MI                               
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
PAY RATE STARTING AT: $60,000 per year

Position Description
Under general supervision, uses advanced skills gained through training, education and experience to monitor financial transactions, prepare financial reports and maintain the organization’s general ledger. Routinely analyzes and integrates various accounting and finance data of substantial variety and complexity.  Prepares understandable analyses for organizational review and decision-making. Resolves most questions and problems and refers new or unusual issues to a higher level. This staff person will fully embody a commitment to race equity; evidenced in all interactions with PPMI colleagues and external stakeholders.
 

Essential Functions
·       Prepare and record month end standard and adjusting journal entries.
·       Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts. In the process, compare actual results with expected results to find unusual situations, possible errors, and opportunities to improve organizational performance.
·       Research and report on general ledger account balances and transactions.
·       Partner with various departments to reconcile subsidiary accounts to the general ledger.
·       Perform monthly bank reconciliation for assigned accounts and provide assistance with other account reconciliations.
·       Regularly monitor the general ledger for input accuracy. Review accounts for content and prepare adjusting entries as needed.
·       Provide assistance in all budget preparation, input and balancing.
·       Run all regular and/or monthly reporting as required from various accounting and organizational programs.
·       Track, schedule and post payments for vendors paid by AMEX.
·       Respond to inquiries from management and department heads regarding expenses, budgets, etc.
·       Participate in the preparation for various audits.
·       Conduct regular maintenance within various systems as needed.
·       Partner with AP to ensure all invoices are entered for month end.  Prepare and maintain AP accruals, schedules and maintain support documentation.  Provide back-up for the AP position as needed.
·       Prepare 1099’s.
·       Back-up for payroll as needed.
·       Tracking and reporting of FTE’s.   
·       Work with health centers to verify, document and receive inventory into Great Plains.
·       Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
·       Develop financial models to support forecasting and other decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience
Required
·       Minimum Degree Required:
·       Bachelor’s Degree
o   Required Disciplines:
§  Accounting or Finance with significant Accounting coursework or equivalent experience
·       ~and~
·       At least three to five years of professional level accounting experience. Prior non-profit accounting experience is preferred. Prior financial reporting and analytic experience that includes: working with subsidiary ledgers, preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing general ledger account analyses, preparing financial models, budgeting, and preparing schedules and reports for program staff, funding sources, and external auditors.
·       Knowledge of GAAP
·       Knowledge of Industry standard internal accounting controls and accounting transaction processing policies and procedures.
·       Skill in operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.  Extensive experience working with spreadsheet and data functions in Excel.  Experience downloading and updating data to/from Excel. 
·       Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives in collaboration with other functional areas.
