JOB SUMMARY
 
The Donor Relations Manager works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Philanthropy, Board of Directors, Senior Staff, other Development Staff and volunteers in building partnerships to develop and implement strategy for individual gift donor relationship management.  The primary objectives of the Donor Relations Manager are to develop appeals and long-term relationships leading to successful gift acquisition and to ensure strategic and tactical use of the development database to meet fundraising goals of the organization. Performs other related duties to support Development operations. The Donor Relations Manager is an advocate for implementing our mission to “empower all people to make private reproductive health care decisions by providing quality health care, medically accurate education and advocacy for individual rights.”  The Donor Relations Manager will participate in fundraising for all ancillaries to Planned Parenthood of Montana (PPMT).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage a small portfolio of assigned donors.
    • Utilize PPMT’s constituent relationship management system to track and report relationship management activity and to prepare lists and reports.
    • Support development team’s major donor program, by tracking calendars and activities and assisting in preparing donor materials.
    • Manage new donor, monthly giving, and donor reactivation programs.
    • Manage annual giving days and participation in workplace giving campaigns.
    • Create, integrate and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans, strategies, methods and materials for individual and corporate giving.
    • Develop strategic funding requests based on short, intermediate, and long-term funding goals of the organization.
    • Support and plan virtual and in-person donor events
    • Understand and comply with all PPMT gift-related policies and procedures, and ensure full ethical compliance as defined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

    • Additional Expectations
    • Attend community events representing Planned Parenthood of Montana as needed.
    • Some evening and week-end work required.
    • Assist in all administrative and other duties as assigned.
    • Some travel required.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education and Experience

    • Demonstrated success in working both independently and as a team member.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand the needs and interests of donors.
    • Experience with constituent relationship management system preferred.
    • Ability to manage and track multiple prospects and donors simultaneously.
    • Discretion in handling confidential information relating to the giving history and backgrounds of donors/prospects.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
    • Attention to detail and strong project management skills.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
    • Experience tracking and prioritizing multiple projects at a time.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Language Skills --Strong spoken and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and persuasive campaign materials.

    • Mathematical Skills -- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    • Reasoning Ability -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to take decisive action.

    • Computer Skills -- Proficient in Word, Excel, Database management and use of internal e-mail system.
