JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of External Affairs, the Electoral Program Manager is responsible for managing the statewide electoral independent expenditure program and conducting direct voter engagement statewide in priority geographies in support of the mission of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Advocating for Reproductive Health Care
Responsible for the oversight and management of Planned Parenthood advocacy and political work in Montana during the 2024 election cycle. Specifically, the Electoral Program Manager will work to elect leaders who commit to protecting sexual and reproductive health care - including, but not limited to, candidates for federal and statewide office, as well as state legislative seats. This person collaborates with the Director of External Affairs, PPAMT, and staff from national Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations to set goals and accomplish the strategic vision of protecting sexual and reproductive rights across Montana. This person will work remotely and cover the state of Montana to meet priorities and goals set forth.

Building Community
Serves as a credible source of local public policy and political knowledge and information. Develops, grows, and maintains influential relationships with supporters, coalition partners, community organizations, business organizations, the general public, the voting public, community members and Planned Parenthood staff.

Developing Leaders
Responsible for managing the organizing efforts for robust recruitment goals to create and grow an active supporter and volunteer base. Generates new activists and volunteers through organizing, outreach and special events efforts. Trains staff, volunteers and interns on policies, priority issues, strategies, tactics, and state-specific political processes necessary to advance PPAMT’s mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages the electoral organizing team and volunteers as needed.

Attends virtual and in-person meetings and trainings as required.

Works evenings and weekends as needed within a 40-hour a week schedule.

Performs all duties of position. Adheres to PPAMT code of conduct and all policies, procedures and protocols. Demonstrates and maintains a high degree of professionalism. Supports and acts in accordance with PPAMT workplace values and customer service standards. Values continuous learning and seeks ongoing training and development. Demonstrates and models inclusion and justice awareness and practices. 

QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5+ years of experience in political organizing, issue and candidate based voter education, familiarity and background working with Voter Activation Network (VAN), electoral politics in Montana and an understanding of the socio-political landscape in Montana.
    • Related lived or volunteer experience commensurate with work experience in political organizing. Good depth of knowledge of the craft of organizing and voter engagement and the legislative and political system. Demonstrated ability to deliver on program objectives and/or motivate groups of people to take action.
    • Able to effectively inspire and mobilize people who are committed to sexual and reproductive health and fundamental human rights, defending and increasing access to family planning services and sexuality education, and ensuring that access to reproductive health care including abortion remain secure and protected.
    • Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking to identify and develop good deployment strategies appropriate to the accomplishment of electoral goals.
    • Possess personal initiative, is self-motivated, and is able to successfully manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and produce quality within tight time constraints.
    • Strong motivational skills, work ethic, and desire to mobilize supporters to be more actively involved and engaged in order to achieve political victories in support of abortion access on the local, state and national level.
    • Additional Requirements
    • Must have access to reliable transportation.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
    • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, e-organizing and social networking, and managing social media platforms. Ability to utilize these programs to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in an office setting.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detail is essential.
    • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities, effectively prioritizing individual and organizational work/inquiries.
    • Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and work under general supervision.
    • High integrity with excellent communication skills, verbal and written to be able to communicate a public affairs agenda to the voting public as well as the general public.
    • Skilled at working independently as well as within a team, able to collaborate across organizations and amongst departments, exhibits a solid understanding of strategic priorities.
    • Ability to work well with others in a positive, respectful and professional manner.

$9,000 - $9,000 a month
Salary: $7,500 / month
Stipend: $1,500/month
            *stipend can be used to purchase health insurance, invest in a retirement account, or used for other expenses.
 
Travel expenses will be covered, and paid holidays will be observed in accordance with Planned Parenthood of Montana’s holiday schedule.
 
This position is full-time, temporary.
