Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is offering a temporary, paid (can be used for course credit) Public Affairs Intern at our Concord Administration offices. The Public Affairs Intern is responsible for training under Planned Parenthood’s Public Affairs staff on how to effectively execute outreach, volunteer management, fundraising and event organizing.  We are searching for energetic, responsible and self-motivated interns to seek out and attend various events throughout the state, speak with the public about PPNNE’s mission and services as well as conduct data entry and provide support for volunteer management and volunteer recruitment.  
Interns are required to commit to 20-25 hours a week with flexibility for night/weekend activities as needed.
 
 
CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSBILITIES:
Work under daily supervision of Public Affairs Staff
Research, plan, design, publicize and prepare materials for community events
Support in political research and material creation
Contribute to publications including weekly blog posts
Participate and lead digital rapid response activities
Serve as part of the Volunteer Action Team
Support in voter database management
Coordinate and partake in advocacy volunteer activities such as canvassing, administration, tabling, phone banking, letter-writing and social media engagement as directed
Participate in coordination of fundraisers
Take a lead role in organizing advocacy events engaging public around Planned Parenthood’s mission and health services
Provide day-to-day assistance to Public Affairs Coordinator and Vice President for Public Affairs Staff
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Interest in reproductive health care, education, and women’s issues
Excellent writing and research skills
Knowledge of State politics and issue-based campaign work preferred
Strong project management and organizational skills
Strong track record for taking initiative
Ability to work professionally in an office environment and as a team
Ability to lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less
Ability to sit or stand for long durations when needed
Ability to use basic office equipment
Ability to professionally communicate with the public about PPNNE health services, mission, and goals
Flexibility with schedule, including weekends, and ability to travel for events
Experience working with voter databases preferred
Experience working with Google Drive
