Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is seeking an Advanced Practice Clinician - Float (NP, CNM) to fill a full time (average of 30 hours/week) position for ME& NH with a home base in Portland, ME. This position will join our clinical staff to provide backup coverage and quality, patient centered, personalized reproductive health care for teens and adults. Clinical shifts range from 3-5 shifts/week with most shifts being 7-8 hours long plus travel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Provides exceptional patient-centered care, in a manner that ensures compliance with current efficiency and productivity standards.  
    • Responsible for accurately coding for medical services provided, in support of the organization’s overall revenue cycle.   
    • Provides health care that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to patient populations.  
    • Conducts comprehensive medical history interviews   
    • Performs appropriate physical exams, with focus on the reproductive system, including standard initial and annual exams, and screening procedures   
    • Assesses patient's health status and prescribes appropriate contraceptive methods, treatments for GYN problems, per PPNNE protocols   
    • Dispenses medications from the health center formulary in accordance with protocols 
    • Provides abortion counseling and follow-up care   
    • Refers patients to physicians and other health or social services as appropriate, following the medical referral protocol.   
    • Counsels/educates patients regarding general reproductive health care; all FDA-approved methods of birth control, including emergency contraception; pregnancy options including abortion, adoption and parenting; and related health, emotional and social problems/issues   
    • Adheres to all reporting requirements and state laws relevant to the abuse of minors   
    • Utilizes EHR system to its fullest potential to ensure accurate documentation, billing, and optimal patient and population-based outcomes.   
    • Consults regularly with supervisor and other PP staff to plan, coordinate and evaluate services, and to review specific cases   
    • Consults regularly with outside health and social service providers (i.e. Dept. of Public Health) to make referrals, coordinate treatment of/assistance to individual patients, coordinate general services, etc.   
    • Participates in after-hours on call rotation for patients. This includes responsibility for notifying appropriate medical and administrative site staff of after-hours contact   
    • Communicates with on-call practitioner about any unusual patient situations that might result in emergency calls during off-hours   
    • When required, assists in clinic administration, including staff training, clinic set up and maintenance  
    • Participates in various PP community education and/or public affairs activities   
    • Participates in quality assurance audits   
    • May perform other relevant duties as directed by Regional Clinical Director or Medical Director  
    • Demonstrates flexibility and teamwork; understands that staffing needs and schedules fluctuate, which will require a flexible work schedule and/or additional work hours; willing to listen and contribute to department, site, and agency discussions and decision-making; incorporates customer satisfaction into all aspects of operation   

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program   
    • Commitment to exceptional customer service and satisfaction   
    • Commitment to team orientation and willingness to participate in constant and ongoing feedback with colleagues  
    • Flexibility, initiative, creative thinking, and a willingness to learn are required.   
    • Broad based clinical GYN knowledge and skills   
    • Familiarity with and ability to comfortably discuss all services provided by PPNNE   
    • Excellent counseling/teaching skills   
    • Ability to relate to a broad range of people and communicate clearly, using tact, discretion and sensitivity with patients   
    • Knowledge of community resources and referral agencies desirable   
    • Ability to sit for up to 4 hours, stand for up to 4 hours, and walk for up to 1 hour a day, with frequent stooping.   
    • Ability to operate all normal office equipment   
    • Ability to travel across the affiliate for training or meetings as appropriate   

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    • Compensation for Advanced Practice Clinician positions is commensurate with the number of years since licensure, with the range of pay between $43.70/hr - $66.52/hr. Access to benefits is available and includes health, dental and vision coverage, paid time off and a retirement fund.   
    • Floating practitioners are eligible for a shift pay differential of $4/hour on top of the base pay as well as travel reimbursement
