Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) has been proudly serving our community since 1933 and is one of the original Planned Parenthood affiliates in the nation. 
 
We provide reproductive health care, health education and advocacy from our five health centers in Alhambra, Baldwin Park, Glendora, Highland Park, and Pasadena, in addition to our telehealth clinic.  We strive to ensure the sexual and reproductive health services we provide align with the needs of the communities we serve. Our service area extends from Glendora to Glendale and from the San Gabriel mountains to the San Bernardino freeway, home to 24 communities and a diverse population of 1.4 million people. 
 
Today, PPPSGV sees over 60,000 patient visits per year and delivers over 15,000 opportunities for sex and relationship education in our schools and colleges.  
 
We offer safe and legal abortions.  We are committed to providing accurate, non-judgmental care and resources by helping our patients overcome financial, transportation, and other barriers to care.  In addition, we work with abortion funds and practical support network to support our patients.   Our abortion care has increased every year since 2018 with an average of 3,500 abortions per year.  We saw close to 4,000 abortion patients in 2022 alone, approximately 59 were out-of-state patients. 
 
The purpose of this position will be to provide direct patient care via telehealth. This position is supervised by the Mental Health Director.

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will save while you:

    • Provide direct patient care through initial and on-going assessments of patient needs, screenings, social determinants of health, and other relevant social concerns
    • Assess a patient's needs and support them by providing services and referrals to community resources that improve the patient's health status and quality of life
    • Provide direct, out-patient mental health treatment
    • Complete clinical documentation in EHR in timely fashion for each patient including in take notes, progress notes, and treatment plans
    • Participate in all ongoing staff and collaborative care meetings
    • Participate in individual and group supervision
    • Maintain licensure and job knowledge by attending workshops, trainings, and reviewing professional publications
    • Be a resource to all team members regarding legal and ethical issues as it relates to social work and healthcare
    • Commitment to personal and/or organizational Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work
    • Commitment to and support for the mission and goals of Planned Parenthood, including but not limited to, increasing access to abortion and decreasing abortion stigma
    • Commitment to quality health care and to providing the highest level of patient satisfaction
    • Travel to all PPPSGV locations as needed
    • Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
    • Additional responsibilities as needed

    • SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday business hours. Some flexibility required outside of regular hours based on patient need

We are looking for someone with the following:

    • Education:
    • Master's Degree in Social Work, MFT, Counseling or equivalent
    •  
    • Licenses/Certification:
    • Active license issued either as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of California or registered with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.

    • Experience:  
    • 1+years related experience providing direct services to patients and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience in sexual and reproductive health care preferred
    • Experience providing services via telehealth strongly preferred
    • Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver's License and Insurance

    • Skills:            
    • Knowledge of the principles of social work and the ability to apply them with individuals, families and/or groups integrating knowledge of normal development and the aging process, changes related to illness, and the needs of patients with acute, chronic, and terminal illness in assessment and intervention with attention to cultural and literacy implications
    • Knowledge of medical, mental health and substance use diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses/injuries; common medications and their effects/side effects; and medical terminology
    • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills, including an ability to effectively triage patient and family needs, function as member of an interdisciplinary team, identification and collaboration with community stakeholders or resources and written communication
    • Knowledge about social determinants of health, principles of diversity/equity/inclusion and culturally responsive practice with populations who have experience historical marginalization
    • Exhibits knowledge of legal/regulatory issues as it relates to social work
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Advanced Microsoft Office application skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Experience with EHR systems preferred
    • Advanced clinical documentation skills
    • Ability to abide by HIPAA standards as it relates to client care.
    • Works well independently and as a team member
    • Ability to collaborate, communicate, influence and work effectively with staff and leadership across all departments
    • Flexibility and adaptability
    • Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese skills highly preferred
$91,000 - $96,000 a year
The hiring rate for this position is: $91,000 - $96,000/year + Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Matching Program, Premium CALM account, holidays, paid time off and more!

The starting rate for an unlicensed Clinician is: $81,000/year.
