SUMMARY OF JOB: The duties of this position are to ensure that patients and staff can safely and comfortably access the health center/building when anti-choice protesters are present. Escorts station themselves outside of the building in all types of weather conditions.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·     Greet patients/staff outside and offer assistance in entering the building.
·     Offer assistance to escort visitors back to their vehicles when they exit the center.
·     Must remain calm in the face of a possible large and loud crowd.
·     Must be able to ignore protesters and respond to hateful language with silence.
·     Must be reliable and punctual.
·     Must complete Escort Training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: None 
TIME COMMMITMENT/SCHEDULE: Shifts are 3 hours long. Ideally seeking volunteers who have availability Tuesday and Friday mornings, and/or the 1st and 3rd Thursday mornings of the month. Ongoing basis as needed.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak effectively with clients and co-workers and to accurately communicate problem situations as witnessed.
REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Must be able to deal with situations, problems and/or outside provocation in a calm, non-reactive manner. Escorts must be able to evaluate and respond to situations through designated communication channels when protesters’ activities unlawfully escalate.

MUTUAL EXPACTATIONS FOR ROLE: As this is an unpaid position, prospective candidates should not expect any type of compensation or benefits for full filling this role. Occupancy of this role/involvement with PPRM does not necessarily lead to part- or full-time employment. Although there are hourly expectations set by the organization, scheduling is flexible and ultimately up to the volunteer/intern’s availability. Volunteer/Intern will effectively communicate their schedule of availability, and PPRM will determine whether or not the amount of availability that volunteer/intern has is adequate to meet the need(s) of the position.

While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer may be required to walk and stand for long periods in inclement weather.

COVID-19 Vaccine: All employees working directly with patients or working in a health center at any time must have the current COVID-19 vaccine or wear a mask at all times. Proof must be uploaded upon hire. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) prior to your start date.

Flu Protocol: All employees working directly with the public are required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient contact or while in the health center from October 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season). Proof must be uploaded upon hire. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) prior to your start date.
