WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
In support of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England’s mission, the Mid-Level Giving Specialist focuses on engaging and cultivating relationships with donors who give in the range of $1,000-$9,999 annually, often involving strategies like personalized communications, cultivation event planning, and database management to increase donor retention and engagement. They are responsible for cultivating, stewarding and soliciting a Mid-Level gift portfolio of donors to meet the diverse financial goals of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE). This position will both have a portfolio of donors and a pool of prospects for growth through cultivation and will be responsible for increasing the number of donors contribution at levels between $1,000 and $9,999. The Mid-Level Giving Specialist will be comfortable with a multi-faceted ask to include annual fund, Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut (PPV!CT), Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island (PPV!RI), the state level PACs, and other giving campaigns when necessary. Works with volunteers and PPSNE staff to achieve goals and increase donor engagement. Spends at least 25% of time interacting with donors and prospects. The Mid-Level Giving Specialist is a critical part of the Development Data and Donor Communications team which includes the Senior Director of Development, Development Database Assistant, and Fundraising Data Specialist. This team supports the wider Development Team in all list management, reporting/ analytics, direct mail, and events to support the financial goals of PPSNE, PPV!CT, PPV!RI and the PAC’s.
Location
- Hybrid/Remote – Will need to attend events in the CT and RI region, meet with donors in person, attend meetings periodically and work from the administrative office in New Haven, CT as needed to complete the ongoing activities of the department, team and position.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor Engagement and Relationship Management:
- Cultivating Relationships: Building and maintaining strong relationships with mid-level donors through regular communication (phone, email, mail) and in-person interactions.
- Personalized Communication: Developing and implementing personalized communication strategies tailored to individual donor interests and giving history. Using the voice of one to many to speak to the group as a whole when appropriate.
- Stewardship: Providing updates on the organization's impact and progress, demonstrating the value of donor contributions. Manage and execute the donor thank you calling program. Create and execute a mid-level stewardship calling program for year end.
- Solicitation: Strategically soliciting gifts from mid-level donors through various channels, including appeals, events, and one-on-one conversations. Create and execute a mid-level solicitation calling program for year end – for PPSNE, PPV!CT and PPV!RI.
- Strategy and Planning:
- Developing Strategies: Creating and implementing strategies to acquire, renew, and upgrade mid-level donors. Working closely with the National Office, the Senior Director of Development and the Senior Director of Philanthropy on prospecting lists: identifying prospects through donor list mining, community events, and other intel.
- Targeted Campaigns: Designing and executing targeted fundraising campaigns to reach specific donor segments.
- Event Planning: Planning and coordinating cultivation events/ activities to engage donors and build relationships, including but not limited to health center tours and house parties.
- Data Management and Analysis:
- Database Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization's CRM system (Salesforce NPSP). Updating the database to ensure accuracy.
- Data Analysis: Analyzing donor data to identify trends, predict giving patterns, and improve fundraising effectiveness of the mid-level giving program at PPSNE.
- Reporting: Preparing reports on fundraising performance and donor engagement of the mid-level giving program.
- Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork; understand the interaction between this position and others with whom the position works directly and indirectly.
- Ensure all interactions incorporate PPSNE values of integrity, partnership, customer focus, communication and quality.
- Supports the organization’s mission and all of the reproductive health services offered including family planning services, health screenings, testing and treatment of STI's, birth control methods and abortion services.
- Support efforts of the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion work to provide services that are culturally competent; take initiative to develop own awareness and knowledge of diversity equity and inclusion.
- Performs additional development-related activities/efforts at the request of their supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Passionate commitment to the mission, services, vision, and values of PPSNE and the ability to communicate it to others.
- 2+ years experience in working in development with data, donors and/or customer service. Some experience working with database reporting for prospect identification and gift solicitation preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing donor strategies, and effectively cultivating and stewarding donors.
- Driven to create and achieve financial and fundraising goals, while maintaining the flexibility to adjust goals to meet the needs of the organization.
- Must have the flexibility to travel frequently, have current driver’s license and access to reliable transportation, and work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Proven ability to build deep and lasting relationships with a variety of internal partners, with whom no direct line supervision exists, as well as external individuals, from donors to board members.

- Strong time management and organizational skills required.
- Self-starter that enjoys calling donors, developing relationships, soliciting donations and is comfortable with “cold calling.”
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to conduct research and analyses of multiple factors related to constituent engagement and to make data-driven recommendations and decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
- Familiarity with 501(c)(4) and PAC fundraising and regulations is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, liberal arts, or related field. Comparable experience may be considered.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising CRMs preferred, especially Salesforce

$41,656 - $69,427 a year
Salary Range; Min $41,656 Mid $55,541 Max $69,427 and is based on full years of experience.
