JOB SUMMARY:
As a health care team member, provides services and performs other duties to support and enhance clinical and operational activities within scope of knowledge, experience and training with a focus on quality, efficiency, and patient confidentiality. Fully participate in all health center efforts related to patient care, customer services, productivity and clinic flow. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      Actively engages with the health center team to provide the high-quality patient care.
a.       Responds to patient telephone calls giving basic information, scheduling appointments and discussing fees in a professional manner according to Planned Parenthood guidelines.
b.      Conducts client intake providing contraceptive and reproductive health care education, including STI’s, HIV, PEP/PrEP and Gender Affirming Care (GAC).
c.       Performs lab work appropriate to visit type within scope of training and maintan appropriate laboratory records following established CLIA and OSHA standards as outlined in PPSWO Lab and OSHA manuals.
d.      Perform blood draws, venipunctures, injections, STI checks, and assists the clinician during Pap smears and procedures. 
e.       Provides assistance and support to clinicians to ensure and facilitate clinic efficiency to enhance customer service and improve center productivity.
f.        Provides patient information including review of exam findings, and provide, as appropriate, supplies, birth control method instruction, referrals and follow-up appointments as directed by clinician.  
g.      Understands and participate in referral and follow-up process in consultation with clinician and health center manager.


2.      Provides accurate and detailed documentation in all aspects of health center functions.
a.       Accurately records all patient contacts in the  medical record.
b.      Completes required documentation, assures informed consents are completed and filed, determining financial responsibility through fee assessments and collects fees, completes forms and data entry as necessary for statistical and demographic information and billing.
c.       Provides exam findings, treatments, supplies, instructions, referrals and follow-up appointments to patients and ensure they are properly recorded in the patient record.
d.      Performs client care audits to meet quality assurance standards.
 
3.      Works with the team to ensure the center is clean, inviting and ready to welcome every patient.
a.       Ensures exam rooms and lab are fully stocked and ready for use, handles lab specimens according to OSHA and safety guidelines, stocks supplies, and maintains lab equipment.
b.      Participates in maintaining general upkeep of the facility by keeping lobbies, reception area, and other rooms tidy and disinfected. 

4.      Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

-High School Diploma or GED. Certificate or professional training in healthcare and/or experience in an OB/GYN, family planning or healthcare center experience preferred.
-Able to speak and write English. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
-Basic ability in the use of Microsoft Office products is required.
-Ability to communicate professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
-Basic clerical and math skills required.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sensitivity in dealing with clients sexuality and reproductive healthcare choices.
-Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays.  
-Electronic Medical Record experience preferred. 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
·         Ability to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, sit, talk, hear, stand, bend, walk; use hands and fingers,   handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl,   and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
·         Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required.
·         May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV.  
·         May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
