JOB SUMMARY:
As a health care team member, provides services and performs other duties to support and enhance clinical and operational activities within scope of knowledge, experience and training with a focus on quality, efficiency, and patient confidentiality.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      Responds to client telephone calls giving basic information, scheduling appointments and discussing fees in a professional manner according to Planned Parenthood guidelines.  Document all patient contacts in medical record.
2.      Conducts client intake providing contraceptive and reproductive health care education, (including STI’s, HIV and PEP/PrEP, complete required forms and records, assuring informed consent and determining financial responsibility.
3.      Performs lab work appropriate to visit type within scope of training following established CLIA and OSHA standards as outlined in PPSWO Lab and OSHA manuals.
4.      Provides assistance and support to clinicians to ensure and facilitate clinic efficiency to enhance customer service and improve center productivity.
5.      Provides patient information including review of exam findings, and provide, as appropriate, supplies, birth control method instruction, referrals and follow-up appointments as directed by clinician.  
6.      Completes documentation, assess and collect fee and complete forms and data entry as necessary for statistical and demographic information and billing.
7.      Understands and participate in referral and follow-up process in consultation with clinician and health center manager.
8.      Participates in routine clinic facility and medical equipment maintenance and client care audits to meet quality assurance standards.
9.      Performs clerical duties including but not limited to preparation of patient charts, insurance verification, filing, patient reminder calls, etc.
10.  Participates in maintaining general upkeep of the facility by keeping lobbies, reception area, and other rooms tidy.  Set up exam rooms and lab, handle lab specimens, stock supplies, and maintain lab equipment.
11.  Fully participate in all health center efforts related to patient care, customer services, productivity and clinic flow. 
12.  Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
      High School Diploma or GED.  
      Certificate or professional training in healthcare and/or experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
      Bilingual (Spanish/English) REQUIRED
      Demonstrated skills in working with the public and excellent customer service.
      Good verbal and written communication skills.
      Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
      Basic clerical and math skills required.
      Able to write and speak English.
      Ability to operate a computer, keyboard and multi-key telephone.
      Ability to function well as a team member.
      Ability to treat patients with respect and sensitivity.
      Ability to communicate professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
      Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sensitivity in dealing with clients sexuality and reproductive healthcare choices.
      Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
      Ability to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, sit, talk, hear, stand, bend, walk; use hands and fingers,   handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl,   and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
      Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required.
      May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV.  
      May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
