Position Description:  

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geospatial (GIS) Data Science Consultant to provide exceptional support in data management, analytical product generation, and team  leadership. As a Geospatial (GIS) Data Science Consultant, you will leverage your expertise in  acquiring, managing, and analyzing various data sources, including geospatial and remote  sensing data, to provide valuable insights and recommendations to improve data quality, security, and sharing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies,  collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and deliver impactful solutions to end-clients.  

Responsibilities:  

Data Management and Analysis: 
Demonstrate expertise in data management, including acquisition, cataloging,  indexing, and utilizing content management systems, such as ArcGIS databases. 
Apply advanced data analysis techniques, including geospatial, statistical,  predictive, and situational awareness methods, to generate complex products and  meet ad-hoc requirements. 
Conduct collection, analysis, and interpretation of disparate data sources,  leveraging remote sensing and data collection platforms to acquire quantitative,  vector, and raster data.  

Quality Control and Assurance: 
Design and implement data analysis quality control and assurance processes to  ensure high-quality products and adherence to established standards. 
Ensure teams are proficient and capable of meeting quality standards by providing  training, mentorship, and guidance in data analysis methodologies. 

Recommendations and Advisory: 
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging capabilities, best  practices, and programs related to remote sensing, geospatial analysis, data  management, and analysis. 
Provide expert recommendations and advice to internal teams and end-clients to  improve data acquisition, management, quality control, security, and sharing  practices.  

Analytical Reporting and Briefing: 
Create executive-level decision-making briefing products, including reports,  white papers, map books, studies, and presentations, to communicate insights and  recommendations effectively. 
Perform research, collaborate with subject matter experts, and synthesize  information to produce conclusions and support analytical projects.  

Team Leadership and Mentorship: 
Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to more junior team members across  multiple teams engaged in data, imagery, and geospatial analysis. 
Serve as a subject matter expert resource, responding to specialized analytical  projects utilizing geospatial data, imagery, and quantitative data.  

Mission Support and Risk Assessment: 
Apply analysis and research techniques to various mission areas, such as flood  risk management, critical infrastructure protection, law enforcement operations,  emergency management, and disaster recovery. 
Develop analysis products, recommendations, and risk/threat assessments based  on internal, classified, and open-source information, delivering analytical briefings to  end clients. 

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (Geospatial Sciences, Data Science, Geography, GIS, or a  related field (preferred) 
Proven 7 years specialized experience in data management, geospatial data  analysis, remote sensing, or related fields. 
Strong proficiency in utilizing geospatial and data analysis tools, such as ArcGIS,  Python, R, SQL, and statistical packages. 
In-depth knowledge of data management principles, data security, and best  practices in geospatial and remote sensing analysis. 
Familiarity with geospatial web interfaces, including web, desktop, and mobile  applications, and their integration with data analysis workflows. 
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability  to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights. 
Demonstrated experience in creating executive-level reports, briefings, and  presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively. 
Leadership skills and experience in leading and mentoring teams involved in data  analysis and geospatial projects. 
Strong research capabilities, with the ability to gather information from various  sources and synthesize it into coherent conclusions. 
Knowledge of mission-specific areas and their applications in data and geospatial  analysis is highly desirable.
