POSITION SUMMARY 
This newly created Venture Operations Specialist role serves as an operational excellence partner for Hines’ venture platform, Hines Global Ventures (HGV). HGV consists of three arms: Venture Studio, where we incubate startups; Venture Investments, where we invest in promising external startups; and Venture Partnerships, where we advance accretive relationships with external companies, firms & startups / founders.
 
The goal of this Specialist role is to clear roadblocks & Hines’ runways for the Venture arm of Hines, working at direction of the Head of HGV. The Specialist will support operations excellence for the entire Venture platform, as well as a specific focus on Venture Studio support, and, other key areas of the business including Partnerships in the near-term.
 
This role is where the operational and detail-oriented expert will thrive, working very closely with the Managing Director and other senior team members within Hines Global Ventures and the broader firm, to ensure operational excellence, execution, and delivery of strategic priorities and projects as the firm continues to evolve its venture platform, HGV.
 
The role is great for a tenacious self-starter who is passionate about being an implementer and operator while possessing the personal characteristics to promote team integration while championing Hine’s values and culture. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in prioritization, organizational dynamics, project management, change management, and creating scalable systems and processes.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
The Venture Operations Specialist's responsibilities will encompass three primary areas: 

Workflow Management for Hines’ Venture Platform

    • Be the central point of contact for Venture Studio startup details, managing venture startup calendars, milestones, and deadlines – partnering closely with HGV’s Management Assistant and Venture Studio Lead as well as Head of HGV
    • Support tracking and management of expenses, KPIs/OKRs, and P&Ls.
    • Elevate leadership and team efficiency by managing technology workflows and workstacks, partnering with the right stakeholders across HGV.
    • Identify new tools and processes to simplify tasks and actions for all venture aspects.

Streamlining and Advancing Key Priorities

    • Drive detailed process management and task advancement for specific startup ventures and strategic partnerships.
    • Work directly alongside Venture Studio Lead, Strategic Projects Director, CEOs of venture startups, and Partnership leadership to streamline operations and ensure key priorities get done.

Support on Other Key Functions within Hines Global Ventures

    • Assist the Head of HGV and Management Assistant in critical internal Hines’ function liaising including IT, HR / personnel management details, onboarding/offboarding, invoice management, and other operational elements.
    • Communicate timely details to the broader team to ensure maximum potential for all parts of the Venture platform – Studio, Investments and Partnerships

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least 10+ years of professional work experience; experience and success in corporate venture investment or venture studio ecosystems a plus
    • At least 2+ years of experience in a commensurate role in a busy, deadline driven environment.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate confidently internally and externally at all levels.
    • Strong collaborator and partnership builder.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and/or overtime if needed.
    • High degree of flexibility in a demanding, fast-paced and frequently changing environment
    • Experience coordinating logistics and ability to juggle competing priorities, effectively manage time and navigate up ambiguity with confidence
    • Experience with programs such as Slack, File-sharing platforms (like Dropbox or Egnyte), Digital collaboration software (like Airtable or Trello). Outlook experience and expense reporting experience is preferred
    • Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions
    • Experience in commercial real estate, private equity, investment banking and/or management a plus
    • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft tool suite including PowerPoint, Excel, and other systems for tracking projects and project management – e.g., Asana, or other tools for efficiency and collaboration like Slack, Miro, Airtable, Box. Demonstrated evidence of proficiency a must
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to listen attentively and interact with the highest level of executive-level awareness and self-awareness 
    • Robust knowledge of change management and operational systems, structures, and methodologies of working with a collective team and executive office
    • Strong project management skills with experience managing complex cross-functional projects, including developing, coordinating, and sharing plans and deliverables in and effective manner with demonstrated expertise
    • Comfort and experience with overseeing performance tracking through OKR/KPI framework and helping modify & support the advancement of this framework
    • Self-starter and quick learner with a strong sense of urgency and follow-through
    • High emotional intelligence with the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of backgrounds
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience communicating effectively at an executive level
    • Analytical and data-driven with a bias towards taking action to improve key metrics
SALARY 
$150,000—$185,000, pending experience and background
