SUMMARY: Supervises employees engaged in printing and pre-press operations that produce polyethylene packaging materials. This job also requires knowledge of OPV and lamination processes. Oversees and evaluates all employees on each shift, perform quality checks and troubleshoots all related problems. Must have a thorough knowledge of all essential duties, of each position, within the press department and be available to perform those duties as needed.

• Inspects and approves quality of mounter proofs, press set-ups, slitter set-ups, and ink room color proofs by performing the following: Reads and interprets work order specifications. o Observes and evaluates equipment settings and conditions. Reviews artwork, print masters, product, and product samples. Operates various testing/analyzing equipment, measures dimensions on proofs and samples, and performs other standardized quality assurance procedures. Records results of quality checks onto QC Log.
• Monitors product quality as orders are being produced on all presses.
• Assists operators and other subordinate employees as needed to troubleshoot and solve quality or output problems.
• Monitors equipment condition and performance. Performs maintenance or fills out form to initiate maintenance request.
• Checks operators and other employees’ paperwork accuracy on documents such as; Daily Production Log, Accumulation Sheets, Work Orders, and QC Assurance logs.
• Receives employee call-ins, obtains pertinent information and documents absences. Arranges for substitute personnel to work overtime to cover for those absences.
• Inputs data into computer for tracking production times, production outputs, scrap, equipment malfunctions and processing problems.
• Checks and approves time sheets for all subordinate employees.
• Performs quality checks on incoming anilox rollers, fountain rollers and plate cylinders.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises all employees of the Press Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting scheduling and sales as needed in assigning and directing work. Training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, setting, and monitoring goals and providing feedback to Arkansas Poly, Inc. employees as needed and requested. Must enforce all policies that are currently in place.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Press Crew leader Operator- Subordinate Report) Review specs such as; Job Order, Print Master Mounter Proof, and Samples Determine a set up plan and direct Press Helper, Flowman and Pressman in set up duties such as; cleaning print stations, correct in colors and viscosities, obtaining materials and supplies. Install plate sleeves in press stations to be used. Install anilox sleeves in press stations to be used. Install intermediate mandrels in press station to be used. Set impressions on printing plates and adjust color-to-color register, impression, location overall print quality, and make any necessary adjustments. Inspect initial set up samples for color, register, impression, location overall print quality, and make any necessary adjustments. Make final adjustments, perform, and document all required quality checks. Inspect samples from each roll perform all quality checks, troubleshoot, and correct all problems. Unload rolls from rewind, weight, label and palletize. Adjust press and supervise press helper and assistant pressman to achieve maximum outputs, quality and safety. Monitor and calculate production information. Fill out and audit related paperwork such as; Accumulation Sheet, Production Sheet, Job Order. Perform preventive maintenance. Check and approve all; color matches from the ink room, mounter proofs, and all setups on the slitter, folder and other presses. Assist other personnel on the shift in troubleshooting quality and/or production problems. Document any reasons for absences, arriving late, or leaving early and report those to the Assistant Plant Manager or Plant Manager. Ensure all shift personnel are at assigned workstations and ready to commence work at the start of the shift. Arrange for substitute personnel in case of absences. Must have the ability to work twelve (12) hour shifts. Must have the ability to work 7 days a week depending on the schedule needed to meet customer demands.

Fill out and audit related paperwork such as; Accumulation Sheet, Production Sheet, Job Order. Perform preventive maintenance. Must have the ability to work 7 days a week depending on the schedule needed to meet customer demands. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Press Flowman, Subordinate Report) Review specs such as; Work Order, Print Master, Mounter Proof and Samples. Install plate sleeves and anilox sleeves in press stations to be use. Clean and store all anilox sleeves removed from press. Change doctor blades as needed. Clean and remove plates from sleeves. Store plates, job jacket and job folder in correct box. Retrieve all inks from the ink room that are needed for press runs. Return all inks to ink room after press runs. Load sleeve car for next job to be printed. Assist and direct the Press Helper in general cleaning of the press during runs. Help perform preventive maintenance. Must have the ability to work 7 days a week depending on the schedule needed to meet customer demands. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Education Must have a thorough knowledge of all departmental equipment, functions, and procedures; and Must have a 4-year college degree or a minimum of 7 years as a press operator/press manager.
• Language Skills o Must be able to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals. Must be able to speak and write in English effectively when presenting information to supervisors and fellow employees.
• Mathematical Skills Required to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Required to read a tape measure.
• Reasoning Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have completed all current training required by law and by Arkansas Poly, Inc.
• Other Skills and Abilities o Ability to understand and operate all production and testing equipment pertinent to this department. Must possess above-average leadership and people management skills.
