PROCEPT BioRobotics is a surgical robotics company enabling better patient care by developing transformative solutions in urology. With an initial focus on BPH, the company’s AquaBeam® Robotic System delivering Aquablation therapy, is the first FDA-cleared, automated surgical robot for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Aquablation therapy combines real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotics and heat-free waterjet ablation for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue. Aquablation therapy offers predictable and reproducible outcomes, independent of prostate anatomy, prostate size or surgeon experience. 

SUMMARY

The Head of International Marketing is a critical member of the marketing leadership and international sales teams.  Reporting to the VP and GM of International with a dotted line to the VP of Global Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and tactical execution of our international market expansion with an early focus on the United Kingdom and Japan. Working closely with Procept’s VP of International, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to support the international commercialization of our surgical robotic system and to strengthen patient and surgeon awareness of Aquablation Therapy.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in leading international marketing teams for established companies within the medical device industry.  The Director will have strong leadership qualities, will have direct people leadership responsibilities, and will play a key role in growing our international marketing team over time.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be required as assigned)

    • Provide team leadership and tactical direction for international marketing team
    • Lead the strategic planning efforts, working in partnership with the senior leadership team, to develop a fully detailed International Business Strategy to include stated objectives and action plans, inclusive of the market mapping, identifying potential gaps and exploiting new opportunities.  Early focus will be on the UK and Japan.
    • Develop the International integrated marketing plan focusing on the UK and Japan.  Develop market strategies aimed at maximizing market share, promoting prolific new product launches and building brand awareness and customer loyalty as well as healthcare economics, government affairs and reimbursement.
    • Execute ongoing identification of new opportunities and markets to be explored, offering understanding, tracking of competitors and market shifts, review of the broad strategic direction.
    • Collate market research and competitive data to enable the formation of the International marketing plan.
    • Capture and structure information from the field producing updated market mapping and business sizing.
    • Develop relationships with KOLs and initiate and lead the development and implementation of customer programs, networks and advisory boards to collect customer insights.
    • Manage and oversee the International marketing plan and budget.
    • Develop, lead and manage the execution of new product launches.
    • Design & implement conferences/symposium strategies & tactics to support the plan working closely with the global tradeshow/events team with a key focus on EAU, JUA, and BAUS.
    • Work with sales and country marketing leaders to ensure sales reps are adequately trained. Work with Global Learning and Development and Medical Education Programs to prepare physician and staff training and education, and patient education events.  Monitor post training results by physician to assess cost/benefit.
    • Support the sales organization in developing and implementing regional marketing and sales support activities to drive robot sales and accelerate adoption of Aquablation Therapy.
    • Collect and provide input on forecasts, sets, inventory control, phase in/out plans, clinical evaluation, etc.
    • Create, maintain, foster contact with KOLs and other health care professionals through participation in physician organizations, conventions, sales calls etc.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with KOLs and customers.  Meet with them regularly. 
    • Maintains frequent and continuous communication with sales force regarding competitive activities as well as initiatives relating to competitive product lines.
    • Organize and communicate peer-to-peer engagements in partnership with sales & clinical to drive improved therapy understanding.
    • Drive regional, local engagement meetings & activities, prioritizing the UK.
    • Develop local language materials and campaigns in both digital and print media.
    • Support distributor and secondary market activities where required.
    • Partner with the Global Downstream Marketing to develop and deliver patient and clinical campaigns across multiple platforms and languages.
    • Partner with the Global Downstream Marketing and Integrated Marketing Communications teams to build downstream activities roadmap across multiple markets to drive messaging and awareness.
    • Develop strong product and market knowledge of BPH technologies to represent the product category with internal and external customers.
    • Maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance.
    • Understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality and EHS policies.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Certifications)

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
    • MBA preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in product marketing with medical device, disruptive technology, urology and/or healthcare experience.
    • Strong professional marketing background with broad international experience preferred
    • Track record of strategy development and implementation.
    • UK country marketing experience preferred, knowledge of the Japanese market desired
    • Understanding of the reimbursement landscape across Europe.
    • Strong leadership skills with prior experience managing a high-performing teams.
    • Proven success leading successful marketing strategies at the downstream level.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision making.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
    • Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions in a complex environment involving trade-offs and risk-benefit assessments.
    • Fluent in English required.
    • Based in UK is preferred.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop annual and long-term objectives for direct reports. Measure performance of direct reports against success criteria and provide feedback and coaching. 
    • Attract, hire, and develop top marketing talent and work with leadership to position PROCEPT BioRobotics as a destination for top medical device marketing talent.

While our ranges are posted, the exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, location or comparison to other employees already in similar roles. In addition to base salary, our positions are eligible for variable compensation through one of our incentive plans as well as equity compensation based on role and level.
