Product Ventures, a renowned design agency that helps Fortune 100 clients shape products and packaging to enhance consumers’ lives, has an opportunity for an enthusiastic industrial designer or experienced model maker who is interested in a prototyping career. As part of the prototyping team, you will be responsible for the fabrication of high-quality mock ups, models, and comprehensive prototypes. As partners to the design team, the prototyping team takes design direction and documentation from the design and engineering groups and create comprehensive prototypes to support design research or marketing programs.
Your primary focus will be producing high quality physical models that support the development of consumer products and consumer packaged goods. You are highly motivated, creative, and detail oriented with a mechanical aptitude. You are experienced and comfortable in a workshop using traditional machine tools, digital equipment, 3D printers, and various finishing processes. Ideally you will have a portfolio showing experience building realistic appearance models of consumer goods.
At Product Ventures, you will be a team member in a collaborative workshop environment. Our facility has state-of- the-art prototyping equipment, including 3D printing (SLA, Polyjet, DLP, FDM) various casting and molding systems, large format printing, CNC milling and thermoforming.

Please note that this position requires you to work at our design studio in Fairfield, Connecticut. Only candidates who are currently within a commutable distance or are willing and able to relocate will be considered.
Candidates will need to have some (or ideally all) of the following skills:
· A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or another technical discipline
· Strong interpersonal skills and you thrive in a team environment
· A natural talent for problem solving and making things
· A strong work ethic and very high quality standards
· An enthusiastic self-starter and an independent thinker
· Experience creating highly detailed physical models and mockups
· Experience with 3D printing, model making and rapid prototyping
· Experience setting up and running 2D print jobs on large format printers
· Experience with detailed hand modeling and fabrication
· Experience color matching and spray booth painting
· Experience producing parts by thermoforming
· Experience CNC programming (preferably in MasterCam) and machining
· A working knowledge of SolidWorks (or other 3D CAD software)
· Experience troubleshooting digital equipment.
· A minimum level of proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
