Data Insights Manager (Remote/Hybrid)

We are looking for a Data Insights Manager who will play an essential role in our projects, from the early stages of solution planning, analysis and design through implementations and operations.  We expect the Data Insights Manager to excel at mastering the complex data models, transformations, standards and tools needed to be successful as a data-centric organization.  Opala is a healthcare tech startup, combining patient information and establishing a complete, individual healthcare profile to improve healthcare outcomes and costs, reduce administrative waste, and enable digital solutions.

    • Demonstrated ability to define and spot macro and micro levels trends with statistical significance on a regular basis and understand key drivers driving those trends.
    • Documenting specifications of data assets for both proprietary and standards-based data sources; specific focus on healthcare related data models in both the payer and provider domains.
    • Describing and detailing data transformation logic from data source to target data models with a specific focus on FHIR resources as the target data model.
    • Maintain library of data analysis artifacts, data management processes, data model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets.
    • Create data asset management tools or systems, including design of related wiki pages, databases, spreadsheets, or outputs.
    • Maintain or update data asset management tools, databases, dashboards, systems, or methods. 
    • Manage timely flow of data asset information to developers, engineers and users.
    • Create or review technical design documentation to ensure the accurate development of data management and reporting solutions.
    • Conduct or coordinate tests to ensure that data models are consistent with defined needs; work closely with QA team to ensure data quality, consistency, validation, etc.
    • Identify or monitor current and potential customers use and adoption of data management tools and assets, and API adoption.
    • Communicate with customers, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations, or others to stay abreast of industry or business trends; e.g. ONC, HL7, terminology standards orgs., etc.
    • Manage a team of Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Data Scientists.


    • 7+ years overall experience
    • 5+ years experience in data quality analysis, root cause investigations, and remediation (not application testing)
    • 5+ years experience working with data management tools such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Hue and TOAD
    • 3+ years experience leading similar teams of size and function
    • Experience in migrating manual data quality processes to an automated, sustainable framework
    • Experience working within an Agile product management environment.
    • Familiarity with data engineering pipeline / ETL processes
    • 3+ years experience in data insights or analytics within a healthcare data management environment

Preferred Qualifications

    • Preferred AHIMA Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA)
