PKH is a nonprofit ed tech company designed to help the University of North Carolina System grow the number of adult learners through online delivery at the undergraduate level. We are equipping universities within the UNC System with best-in-class technology, processes, and student support solutions so they can better compete with out-of-state, online universities.
 
The Role
The Program Director will lead the design, development, and deployment of academic programs delivered by PKH (Project Kitty Hawk) for institutions of higher education. In this role, you will collaborate with PKH teams, partners, and institutions’ academic faculty and staff to support the successful launch, maintenance, and growth of online academic programs focused on serving the non traditional adult learner. 

Responsibilities Include:

    • Serve as an academic liaison for PKH with partner institutions and instructional design team.
    • Work closely with institutions’ faculty to ensure successful design and development of programs and courses to meet the needs of the adult learner, including collaboration with publishers, academic resource vendors, etc., as necessary.
    • Work closely and communicate effectively with partners, program chairs, and faculty to ensure successful execution, growth, and maintenance of academic programs.
    • Assist with scheduling and capacity planning of courses and faculty with institutions’ program chair/director of academic programs.
    • Collaborate across PKH to ensure a best-in-class student experience including work with faculty recruiting, business development, student success, project managers, product owners, and data & technology teams.
    • Identify relevant trends and best practices in online adult education for academic programs.
    • Lead ongoing, term-by-term academic program reviews by monitoring core analytics and other key metrics seeking continuous improvement.
    • Develop annual plans for refreshing/revising/updating academic programs.
    • Support the development of a long-term strategy for academic programs including assuring it is aligned with any product and service functions, as well as, able to support the most critical and scalable needs of the institutions and workforce partners in relation to academic programs and activities.
    • Work closely with the PKH digital and product team on leveraging technology to improve and enhance academic program design, development, and deployment.

What You Bring

    • Candidates ideally have a master’s (doctorate preferred) with substantial experience in designing, developing, and deploying academic programs.
    • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a fast-paced, growing institution.
    • At least 5 years of experience in working closely with instructional design teams and faculty, preferably in an online setting with non-traditional student population.
    • 3 years of workplace experience (outside of higher education)
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Proven ability to think strategically.
    • Data analysis and forecasting skills.
    • Strong Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
    • Expertise in curriculum and academic program management.

This position is remote, but based in North Carolina.
