The Senior User Researcher’s goal is to provide our internal Product teams with all necessary data about our customers and potential customers. This role helps to reveal what buyers and users need from Promethean’s products by conducting independent primary research, exploring consumer behaviors and motivations, keeping abreast of relevant industry trends and innovations, and delivering insights to the Product Management, Design and Development teams in a timely manner.
This senior level role plays an important part in supporting strategic new product ideation through the delivery of high-quality written, oral, and visual presentations about customers and users. They will independently design and execute research projects globally, with an emphasis on conducting research in our non-U.S Tier 1 markets (UK, Ireland, Germany) as well as in emerging markets. They will be very knowledgeable about a variety of feature prioritization and pricing & packaging research methods and should plan to submit samples of past research projects during the interview process.
As a Senior UX Researcher you will...
- Research: The Senior User Researcher is responsible for independently designing, planning and implementing user research across the Promethean product portfolio. Research will include but is not limited to opportunity identification, surveys, feature prioritization (such as MaxDiff and Conjoint), ethnography, pricing & packaging studies and solution validation. Research findings will be delivered in an engaging way that includes oral, visual, and written reports in order to inspire teams to iteratively design products that meet buyer and end user needs. To best communicate with our non-U.S. customers, the ideal candidate will be able to adapt their research plan to the cultural norms of the participants and speak/write fluently in German, French or Spanish.
- Be the Voice of the Customer: The Senior User Researcher will be responsible for sharing customer insights broadly and advocating on behalf of customers to ensure that buyer, IT admin and end user needs are properly understood and seriously considered across all Product teams. This role works closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers for the purpose of educating teams about the realities of life in both the Education and Corporate markets.
- Be Highly Collaborative: The Senior User Researcher will work closely with other members of the Product Operations team to help design research programs appropriate to the desired outcomes. In some cases, this will mean using quantitative and qualitative research approaches that apply to more than one ongoing research project. The ideal candidate will thus be extremely collaborative and a true team player.
- In addition, this role will work with a cross-functional assortment of teams including Product Marketing and Competitive Intelligence to uncover latent customer needs and opportunities that Promethean is best suited to solve. They will use that information to clearly articulate user needs in ways that help the Product, Design and Engineering teams turn those opportunities into unique and sustainable competitive advantages.
Responsibilities:
- Education: A candidate for this position must have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Business, Marketing, Cognitive Science or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Our ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of work experience performing primary user research, statistical analysis, qualitative and quantitative research and product usability testing. They should have a continuous track record of learning about and applying new concepts in user research design and execution. The Senior User Researcher must also display a strong comprehension of the strengths and limitations of different research methods, and when and how to use each method during product/market/end user needs analyses. Experience with both Qualtrics and Usertesting.com is a plus.
- Communication Skills: The role of the Senior User Researcher involves some fairly complex research concepts that some people in the business will find difficult to understand. For that reason, this role must possess excellent communication skills to be able to relay research methodology concepts and findings to Product personnel in a clear, simple, and relatable manner. Communication skills must be excellent in both written and verbal form.
- Interpersonal Skills: Candidates for this position must be deeply empathic to the needs of customers and users. Furthermore, they must have above-average interpersonal skills including the ability to influence without direct authority, to resolve conflicts quickly and efficaciously, and to work well with people across the company.
- Soft Skills: Candidates for this position must display a genuine passion for product-centric innovation; an ability to work well independently as well as with a team; a passion for collaboration in order to achieve outcomes; a keen and exceptional attention to detail; and finally an ability to identify customer opportunities inspired by the buyers’ and end users’ needs and behaviors.
Base Range: GBP 56,500 – GBP 73,000
