Creative Director

San Francisco

Propane seeks an inspiring and motivated Creative Director whose responsibilities include overseeing multiple projects through to execution, while developing original creative concepts with teams of designers. While collaboration between creative, strategy, user experience and technology on projects is a must, the Creative Director will also contribute to the development of marketing and digital strategies, as well as managing the client relationship for all things related to creative.


    • Identify and steward client/brand needs, objectives and campaigns
    • Provide creative direction as well as overall leadership for strategic and account direction
    • Establish client relationship and act as a creative leader for the client
    • Promote continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation, excellence and accountability
    • Work with producers as a key point of contact for scheduling deadlines and helping to resolve resource and delivery issues
    • Design and provide oversight for the creative strategy, ux and design
    • Direct all phases of creative work from concept through production
    • Successfully lead, inspire and mentor a team of creatives and help review staff members’ performance
    • Responsible for nurturing junior creative staff through critique of their work and providing direction and constructive feedback to maintain creative quality
    • Responsible for inspiring and motivating creative teams and serve as overall creative lead
    • Conceive and create experience-oriented design solutions that fulfill strategic business objectives
    • Pitch/present concepts, mock-ups and deliverables to internal & client stakeholders, and be responsible for articulating and defending conceptual and directional choices


    • 10+ years experience in a creative leadership role
    • Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, interpersonal and inter-departmental
    • Superb professionalism and mature presence in all aspects of team and client relationship building
    • Thought leadership; a strong point of view; ability to contribute to strategic development of an assignment; creative ideas and the ability to promote conceptual thinking among the team
    • A strong working knowledge of interaction design, digital product and platform creation experience, user-centered experience design, brand development, digital marketing, online advertising, mobile/tablet/apps, and the creative process
    • Strong ability and experience in leading, directing and managing a group of cross-disciplinary teams
    • Proven leadership skills with experience guiding teams
    • Proven mentoring, supervisory, and team-building skills
    • Dynamic presentation skills
    • Strong copy/deck/script-writing
    • Track record of winning pitches and awards
