The AR and Billing Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing the Accounts Receivable and billing functions, with a specialized focus on the unique challenges and intricacies associated with subscription-based revenue and deferred revenue. This role involves leading a team, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, overseeing collections, and reporting. The AR and Billing Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining financial stability and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

What you'll be doing

    • Lead and mentor the AR and billing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Oversee the accurate and timely creation and distribution of invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address billing discrepancies and improve billing processes.
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging, implementing effective credit and collection policies.
    • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve billing-related inquiries and disputes.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of deferred revenue principles, including ASC 606.
    • Implement robust reconciliation processes to verify the accuracy of recorded revenues, including deferred revenue.
    • Work closely with accounting and finance teams to investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Review customer contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment for revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
    • Provide guidance to sales and legal teams on contract structures aligned with accounting policies.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards related to revenue recognition.
    • Serve as a key point of contact during audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
    • Generate and analyze reports related to accounts receivable, billing, deferred revenue, and revenue reconciliation.
    • Generate and analyze reports specific to SaaS metrics, such as Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) and Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR).
    • Implement and enhance processes for managing subscription renewals, upgrades, and downgrades.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and optimize the revenue cycle.
    • Evaluate and implement billing and AR software solutions to enhance automation and efficiency.

What we are looking for

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in accounts receivable and billing roles within the SaaS industry.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, revenue recognition standards (ASC 606), and deferred revenue accounting.
    • Previous leadership experience with a focus on team development.
    • Proficient in using accounting software and billing systems.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
$85,000 - $100,000 a year
