We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer experienced with advanced fabrication techniques. Join us to contribute to the multi-disciplinary design of components for stellarator fusion power plants, in particular large-scale, high-field superconducting magnets. Your efforts will directly improve the feasibility of our designs and the scalability of our manufacturing capabilities, essential for advancing our mission to harness fusion energy.

If you are:

    • A mechanical or manufacturing engineer with a passion for innovation;
    • Proficient in design for manufacture, the development of manufacturing processes and managing projects entering production;
    • Experienced with advanced fabrication techniques for complex metal components and high-strength alloys;
    • Familiar with materials and design considerations for vacuum or cryogenic environments;
    • Fluent in mechanical engineering fundamentals (e.g. statics, dynamics, materials) and skilled in engineering modelling and simulation (e.g. structural or thermal analysis);

You will help us by:

    • Collaborating across engineering design teams in order to improve manufacturability;
    • Partnering with industrial collaborators to research capabilities, develop advanced fabrication techniques and enhance manufacturing processes;
    • Validate novel combinations of processes on small scale prototypes;
    • Supporting risk management for large-scale stellarator coil production.
