At Proxima Fusion, we're driven by a bold mission – to redefine the future of sustainable energy. Our unique concept, built upon the groundbreaking W7-X stellarator and the latest advances in technology, paves the way for commercially viable fusion power plants.
Our work in stellarator optimization, powered by cutting-edge computation and machine learning, is propelling us into uncharted territories of fusion technology. New higher performance design points are unlocked by high temperature superconducting magnets and we're leveraging this technology with advanced computational design capabilities.
We're on a journey to redefine the energy landscape, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
We are seeking a Heating Systems Engineer to lead the design, procurement, and installation of high-power gyrotrons and microwave systems critical for heating stellarator plasmas. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading scientists and engineers, driving the success of Proxima's heating systems.
If you are:
- An expert in gyrotrons or high-power microwave systems with experience in magnetic confinement fusion (tokamaks or stellarators);
- Skilled in the full lifecycle of gyrotron technology: design, procurement, installation, and operation;
- Experienced in collaborating with suppliers, design firms, and manufacturers for complex, high-precision components;
- Excited to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment focused on achieving net-energy fusion;
- Based in or willing to relocate to Munich (Germany) or Culham (UK) or Villigen (Switzerland), with flexibility for travel;
You will help us by:
- Writing technical specifications for the heating system, including material and quality assurance requirements;
- Planning and integrating the heating systems to meet performance and energy targets;
- Leading gyrotron and microwave system installation processes, ensuring seamless integration;
- Developing testing and commissioning protocols for gyrotron operations with a focus on reliability;
- Collaborating with physicists and engineers to optimize gyrotron performance;
- Streamlining the transition from prototype development to full-scale production, reducing lead times, simplifying design and improving workflows.
In return, you will get:
- Fulfilling Mission: Work on harnessing the universe's fundamental energy source that powers the stars. If you want to contribute directly to transforming the way we produce energy in the world, Proxima is the place to be.
- Incredible Team: Join a mission-driven, team-oriented, excellence-seeking team from all over the globe. We're working on fusion to change the world and we thrive in a supportive and rewarding environment.
