At Proxima Fusion, you will join a diverse and interdisciplinary team working at the frontier of fusion technology.

As a Senior Software Engineer: Data Infrastructure, you will play a critical role in advancing our ML and data management capabilities to support fusion technology development. Your work will focus on designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, MLOps tooling, and cloud-based training pipelines for large-scale simulations.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside machine learning experts, software engineers, fusion scientists, and fusion engineers, making a tangible impact on the future of clean energy.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Contribute to our ML-related software engineering efforts together with ML researchers, our software infrastructure team, and fusion experts.
    • Develop our MLOps tooling, ML model implementations, data analysis, dataset management, data pipelining, cloud-based large-scale simulation, data analysis, and visualization tooling.
    • Act as a link between the interdisciplinary team members at Proxima, building systems that empower ML experts, software engineers, and fusion experts.
    • Be the first point of contact for software needs in the AI team, defining and ensuring good software practice and directions.

WHO YOU ARE

    • A Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, physics, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in building a data infrastructure or in data engineering
    • Strong knowledge of Python software development and the PyData ecosystem
    • Experience with Pipeline Scheduling systems such as Airflow or Dagster
    • Experience with ETL systems such as PySpark and Kubernetes.
    • Experience with computation in cloud or HPC environments, scalable training pipelines involving numeric simulations, and distributed computing.
