At Proxima Fusion, we're driven by a bold mission – to redefine the future of sustainable energy. Our unique concept, built upon the groundbreaking W7-X stellarator and the latest advances in technology, paves the way for commercially viable fusion power plants.
Our work in stellarator optimization, powered by cutting-edge computation and machine learning, is propelling us into uncharted territories of fusion technology. New higher performance design points are unlocked by high temperature superconducting magnets and we're leveraging this technology with advanced computational design capabilities.
We're on a journey to redefine the energy landscape, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
We are seeking exceptional candidates with a strong computational background and good physics intuition. Candidates with experience in developing simulation frameworks and models for customized applications are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of solving real-world problems. Expertise in stellarators or in the fusion domain is not necessary. We value a collaborative spirit and a willingness to work with us in a dynamic startup environment.
If you have:
- A Master’s or PhD in physics, engineering physics, computational science, or a similar field;
- Experience in a computationally intensive research field or industry and contributed to building code bases or simulation frameworks and not just using them;
- Worked in a competitive environment and at the forefront of research;
- Readiness to take on ownership and responsibilities;
- Worked at least 2 years in a professional context (on top of your academic experience);
- Solid software development skills and willingness to contribute to a professional software stack;
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and have a proactive problem-solving mindset;
You will help us by:
- Simulating performance and identifying design limitations in our next-step stellarator;
- Writing requirements for engineers for stellarator subsystems as obtained from your simulations;
- Contributing to our internal physics and reduced engineering simulation stack;
- Developing reduced models for performance prediction, encompassing both physics and engineering aspects;
- Optimizing stellarators with enhanced performance and with economic viability;
- Collaborating with partners from public institutions to foster innovation and knowledge exchange;
- Driving innovation by challenging the status quo and exploring new frontiers in simulation and optimization.
In return, you will get:
- Fulfilling Mission: Work on harnessing the universe's fundamental energy source that powers the stars. If you want to contribute directly to transforming the way we produce energy in the world, Proxima is the place to be.
- Incredible Team: Join a mission-driven, team-oriented, excellence-seeking team from all over the globe. We're working on fusion to change the world and we thrive in a supportive and rewarding environment.
- World-Leading Partners: We are supported by internationally renowned groups, industrial companies and technical advisors with experience built on groundbreaking fusion experiments.
