About the team:
The lean finance team works across our global companies alongside outside contracted accountants. We are charged with the execution and strategy for all internal and external financial responsibilities. We lean on automation, data, innovation and a bit of elbow grease to meet our charge to scale ahead of our growth. We work diligently to get things done and have fun while doing it.
About you and the position:
Reporting to the Controller based in Sydney, this newly created General Accountant role, is a very hands-on position and will assist with all day-to-day accounting functions across our global entities. You are a detail-oriented, process-driven, multitasker with a positive attitude. You love challenges and are eager to learn new things. You are poised to review, analyse and make well thought out suggestions to mature and set the future direction for all accounting related practices, processes, and tools. You take responsibility for your own work and always focus on ensuring quality assurance before shipping outputs. You are able to help with our goal to create streamlined, accurate, timely financials for our investors and business leaders.
What you'll be doing:
- Hands on day-to-day accounting functions including but not limited to: Accounts Payable/Expenses, Accounts Receivable/Cash application, Payroll, Banking, Journal Entries, and assisting with external contract accountants.
- Assist with accurate and timely month end close by preparing various journal entries and account reconciliations for cash, pre-paids, accruals, inter-company, fixed assets and various other accounts.
- Coordinate with other departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues.
- Assist in project implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Support the Controller to oversee and manage the cash flow of the company and ensure it has appropriate controls to manage risks
Ideally you'll have:
- 3+ years in a position equivalent to a general ledger accountant/bookkeeper or higher responsibilities.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS, knowledge of GAAP helpful.
- Experience with Xero, Stripe, SalesForce, Google Workspace - Proficiency in Google Sheet/Excel, experience with AirTable a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve on time accurate results as well as being detail-oriented, self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Confidence and adaptability in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment.
