This is a San Francisco based position that is currently remote and will have a hybrid schedule once we return to office. We are open to candidates willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.

We're looking for a Technical Writer to author, edit, and review product documentation as well as documenting technical software development processes. You will be a core part of the product management team working closely with engineering, product marketing, and the software development team. In this role, you’ll work with a variety of internal technical resources and attend engineering meetings to gather, write, and publish technical information for external audience. The Tech writer shall produce a variety of top-quality materials such as user manuals, application notes, white papers, & technical documentation including infographics, screenshot markups etc.
The ideal candidate shall possess knowledge of basic electrical engineering and data analytics with demonstrably strong communication and writing skills. Cross functional interaction ability with subject matter experts from software engineering, UI/UX developers, data scientists, product managers, field engineers is necessary to be successful in this role. We are looking for writers with demonstrated experience simplifying complex ideas and are open to candidates with a background in software engineering, technical writing, or the world of teaching, curriculum development, or scientific publication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with product managers, product marketing, and software engineers to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including: User Manuals/Guides, Integration Guides, Technical Processes, etc.
- Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
- Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.
- Maintain a library of application documentation, cataloging it for internal and/or external use.
- Create in-depth user guides, FAQs, technical overviews, and in-product help documentation.
- Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical users.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables.
- Maintain a library of application documentation, cataloging it for internal and/or external use.
- Publish and maintain templates for written documentation produced by others (technical specifications, RFP responses, etc.), ensuring a consistent "look and feel”.
- Publish Release Notes for our software for delivery to a broad group of internal and external partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a technical field such as computer science, renewable energy or a focus on English, writing, or communications.
- 4-5 years’ experience working as a Technical Writer or in related job role.
- Experience in creating documentation for audiences with different levels of technical skill.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Interest in Cleantech, Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Grid, renewable energy, and energy storage
ADDITIONAL PLUSES
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum software development teams.
- Experience writing content for software applications using a CMS.
- Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.
