Position Overview

A Staff PPC Engineer is responsible for design and development of Geli’s power plant control and data acquisition systems. This position is focused on developing and implementing PPC model design and code for PV and BESS systems. This position will work closely with our control and software engineering team while supporting external stakeholders in System Integration and Project Development teams. This is a high-visibility, high-impact position in a fast-growing team with an opportunity to contribute to overall project execution and corporate vision of renewable growth. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with demonstrated success in similar roles previously. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement PPC code for PV and BESS systems.  
    • Engage with internal and external teams, Utilities and ISOs to negotiate points lists.  
    • Test configuration on a Typhoon Hardware in Loop.  
    • Develop test plan and automated tests.  
    • Aid in documenting functions and features of PPC.  
    • Review documentation and provide feedback to clients and subcontractors.  
    • Coordinate onsite testing and commissioning.  
    • Engage in planning meetings with team.  
    • Strong work & teamwork ethic.  
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
    • Passionate about solving customers’ problems.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in Power System, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Computer Engineering.  
    • 5 + yrs. experience interacting with Utilities, ISO’s, IPP’s in the US market.  
    • Field experience deploying PPC/SCADA systems for renewable projects in the US.  
    • Strong understanding of network communication architectures, protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA).  
    • Has worked with NERC, FERC and reliability standards.  
    • Experience programming HMI, PLC, IEDs, ION meters, and RTU devices.  
    • Interpret schematics, and block diagrams for networking, controls and electrical systems.  
    • Familiarity with electrical modeling & simulation tools like PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated experience deploying Utility-scale projects for Solar, Wind, or Energy Storage markets.  
    • Understands the value of hypotheses, experimentation, and learning.
