The Senior Aerospace Quality Engineer leads a team in identifying and addressing non-conforming products, overseeing root cause analysis and corrective actions, and driving quality improvements in manufacturing processes. The role, initially project-based for 6+ months, may transition to full-time.

Responsibilities

    • Enhance product quality and manufacturing processes through leadership in quality system development, inspection plan approval, and data-driven process improvements.
    • Lead the Zero Defect Program, conduct AS 9100 audits, and manage part development from inception to qualification.
    • Perform APQP evaluations, manage RMA/AR programs, and collaborate with suppliers for process improvement.
    • Conduct calibrations, analyze data for anomalies, and report KPIs and QMS status to executive management.
    • Lead Material Review Boards and recommend improvements in monitoring equipment and procedures.

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
    • 7+ years in Aerospace Electromechanical manufacturing
    • 5+ years in Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
    • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt certification
    • 3+ years using Lean and Six Sigma tools and CI principles
    • Experience with APQP methodology (PPAP, FAIR, MTR, DFMEA, PFMEA, CP)
    • Proficiency in quality analysis software (Minitab, JMP, QiMacro, Spc for Excel, etc.)
    • Familiarity with AS 9100 Aerospace Quality Management System
    • Knowledge of CMM and technical inspection devices
    • Understanding of QSys and compliance review of customer POs for manufacturing flow down
    • Solid GDT understanding and ability to read engineering blueprints and technical specifications
    • Effective communication across all organizational levels
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills using Six Sigma and quality analytical tools

Preferred Experience

    • Expertise in International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and AS 9100 Lead Auditor certification.
