Job Title: Facility Maintenance Technician
Location: Richmond, VA
Pay Rate: $30–$32/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (with occasional weekend work as needed)
Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform and oversee a variety of maintenance tasks within a fast-paced facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and should be comfortable working in cold storage environments. This position plays a key role in ensuring equipment and facilities remain operational, safe, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of production equipment.
- Calibrate and adjust equipment using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Monitor and maintain powered industrial trucks (PIT), including inspections and reporting.
- Maintain and manage inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, especially in cold storage environments.
- Assist with minor construction or repair work, including welding and metal fabrication.
- Work with outside vendors to coordinate receipt and usage of maintenance supplies.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
- Participate in rotating on-call shifts and be available for emergency maintenance support.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Required Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in refrigeration maintenance or related fields.
- Prior experience in cold storage facilities is highly preferred.
- Certifications in any of the following are a plus: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, machinery, or vehicle servicing.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite for basic reporting and documentation.
- Able to weld, grind, and make structural improvements as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Required Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 25–75 lbs regularly.
- Must be comfortable standing for extended periods (95% of shift).
- Will work in environments as cold as 35°F.
- Moderate noise level is typical.
Additional Info:
- Must be willing to work irregular hours, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A valid driver’s license may be required for occasional off-site pickups.
