Job Description Overview:
The Industrial Engineer leads ongoing improvement events, instructs on improvement tools, and plays a vital role in improvement activities throughout the operations department, occasionally extending to other areas of the business.

This Industrial Engineer excels in problem-solving, and overseeing process and quality system improvements across manufacturing and warehousing operations. They collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and partners to enhance costs, quality, and service concerning raw materials and operating supplies.

Responsibilities:

    • Assist VP of Operations and Senior Staff with improvement projects and Strategy Deployment initiatives.
    • Lead Strategy Deployment action plans as needed.
    • Aid in KPI reporting and data analysis to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
    • Implement action plans to enhance KPIs in designated areas.
    • Design cell layouts.
    • Optimize floor space usage measured by revenue per square foot and other metrics.
    • Assist team leaders in problem-solving and assigned improvement projects.
    • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, government regulations, and product requirements.
    • Participate in daily management activities and facilitate immediate Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Measures.
    • Drive cost reduction by eliminating waste in various operational areas.
    • Design production equipment and methods using Lean principles.
    • Develop capital equipment plans, including justifications, project plans, implementation, and results assessment.
    • Educate and guide others in Lean/Continuous Improvement practices.
    • Participate in and lead Kaizen events after certification.
    • Support Item/BOM/Shop Router development and product costing efforts.
    • Contribute to scheduling system design using Lean methodologies.
    • Implement Kanban systems and oversee material management methods.
    • Achieve inventory turnover and related goals.
    • Ensure adherence to standard work and other process documents while striving for continuous improvement.
    • Generate cost savings equivalent to at least 8 times annual salary through process enhancement, productivity gains, quality improvements, and waste reduction.
    • Document improvements and measurable achievements.
    • Perform other assigned duties.

Competencies Desired for this Role:

    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a Lean/Continuous Improvement setting.
    • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
    • Lean certifications and SME Certifications are advantageous.
    • Strong grasp of Lean/Continuous Improvement principles with a proven track record of implementing Lean processes.
    • Experience with international supply chains is beneficial.
    • Goal-oriented, and organized, with strong financial analysis, negotiation, and leadership skills.
    • Possession of a valid Driver’s license.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

    • Proficiency in handling tasks within a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
    • Occasional exposure to construction or warehouse conditions may occur.
    • The work conditions outlined reflect what an employee may face when carrying out key job responsibilities.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting, typing, or standing are anticipated.

Safety Requirements:

    • Follows the guidelines outlined in the Health and Safety manual.
    • Uses suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
    • Participates in all safety meetings organized by the company.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must pass a criminal background check (7-year felony + sex offender)
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug test (10 panels for recreational drugs and opiates)
