Position: International Shipping Coordinator
Location/s: Richmond, VA
Duration: Full Time, Permanent Role
Shift: 1st Shift
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/Annual (Depending on experience)

Job Summary:
In this role, the International Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for all shipping transactions associated with the company's machines and parts from the United States and Latin America to our bakery customers around the world. An ideal candidate will have great organizational, strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

How will you impact company's (responsibilities and duties):

    • Performs a wide variety of duties related to the handling of imports and exports and other foreign transactions.
    • Controls and evaluates international transportation for raw and finished inventory and ensures that proper  classification and regulations are followed.
    • Assists in establishing the company’s process parameters, and capabilities and assembles information for management.
    • Files the documents required for exports/imports in a timely manner.
    • Handles technical details relating to domestic and international transportation, such as customs regulations and any necessary documentation.
    • Ensures proper classification of materials to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS code).
    • Responsible for ISF filings, posting shipments, any required export/import documents, and updating and distributing in-transit reports.
    • Verifies & approves both international and domestic logistics invoices and handles any issues and disputes.
    • Prepares freight quotes for various departments including sales, purchasing, and shipping.
    • Follows instructions and implements policies and other duties as determined by management and in compliance with our Purchasing, Accounting, Shipping, and/or Sales/Parts department.
    • Uses IT systems to manage delivery times and transport costs and uses the data to evaluate and plan improvements.
    • This includes tracking orders, improving customer service by using IT data for on-time delivery, and import customization if needed.
    • Communicates with domestic and international partners such as freight forwarders, brokers, or truck lines to procure essential information to route air, freight, rail, or ocean shipments.
    • Addresses any problems or complaints that may arise quickly and amicably.
    • Strong customer service skills, creating and maintaining long-term relationships, providing shipment status and cost, coordinating shipments between the customer and their vendor, corresponding directly with the customer,
    • and resolving customer issues.
    • Maintain the wood receipt and usage log; documentation to support the contract for wood packaging material (ISPM15), communicate and respond to auditors.
    • Support warehouse and other teams as needed.

What you need to succeed (experience/knowledge/skills):

    • Min. 3 years years of experience in various shipping process (international & domestic)
    • Office 360 computer proficiency
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Customs/tariff: 3 years required
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Great organizational skills (ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities at the same time)
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must pass a criminal background check (7-year felony + sex offender)
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug test (10 panels for recreational drugs and opiates)
