Position: MIG Welder
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Monday - Friday)

Qualdoc is looking for talented MIG Welders to support an industrial manufacturer in Richmond, VA. You will be responsible for welding a variety of metal and steel fabricated parts using welding equipment. This role requires the use of a variety of tools including a straight edge, combination square, and ruler. You will fabricate based on blueprints and shop drawings.
Duties:
- Adjusts and uses torch and plasma cutter and/or grinder properly in standard/non-standard positions following engineering drawings.
- Welds in vertical, flat, horizontal, or overhead positions.
- Uses basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to verify proper weld application and quality of weldments.
- Examines work pieces for defects and ensures conformance with specifications.
- Welds out components previously tack welded by experienced welders.
- Prep and finish metal components by grinding or sanding.
- Operates material handling equipment.
- Operates overhead crane/hoist.
- Responsible for movement of material or product and proper storage.
- Must be physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, protective apron and/or leather attire, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and fresh air/forced air respirator as required.
- Performs MIG welding and some TIG welding.
You Must Have:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in manufacturing
- 3.5 years of experience in MIG welding
- Able to read shop drawings, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Able to read a tape measure, and ruler, and use measurement tools
- Strong math skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
Preferred Skills:
- TIG welding is a plus
- ERP experience preferred (JD Edwards)
