Position: Mobile Service Technician
Location: Roanoke, VA
Duration: Full Time, Direct Hire
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 (Depending on experience)
Shift: 1st Shift (Mon-Fri)
 
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mobile Service Technician to join our growing team based out of Roanoke, VA. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, scheduled repair and maintenance services to customer locations — not roadside assistance. Using company-provided tools, training, and a mobile service truck, the technician will represent the company professionally in the field while ensuring trucks and spotters are diagnosed and repaired efficiently and accurately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Travel to customer locations (not roadside environments) to perform scheduled and approved repairs.
    • Diagnose Class 8 trucks and spotters to determine malfunction causes.
    • Use CDK, ASIST, J-Pro, and other diagnostic/service software and tools to guide and record the repair process.
    • Accurately perform all work outlined on the repair order.
    • Communicate repair limitations, delays, or revisions to the service advisor immediately.
    • Document all repairs performed and parts used and save/tag warranty parts as required.
    • Maintain a clean, professional environment within the service truck and at the job site.
    • Work with the parts department to obtain necessary components before arriving at the job.
    • Road test vehicles to verify successful repairs.
    • Participate in OEM training programs and stay updated on technical bulletins.
    • Accountable for all dealership-issued tools, manuals, and service truck inventory.
    • If mobile demand is low, work within the shop as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Skills & Abilities:

    • Ability to drive safely and responsibly to and from customer sites.
    • Proficient with GPS navigation, mobile route planning tools, and paper maps.
    • Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair capabilities.
    • Professional demeanor with excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Able to follow manufacturer and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, hazardous waste disposal, etc.).
    • Proficient in reading and understanding service manuals and repairing documents.

Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL or DOT medical card preferred).
    • 3+ years of diesel repair experience preferred.
    • Experience with mobile service operations is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for extended periods.
    • Must be able to work safely in loud environments with strong odors.
    • Must be able to inspect vehicles and perform physical diagnostic tasks.
