Salary: $85,000 – $160,000 (DOE)
About the Role
We’re seeking a Structural Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team supporting complex industrial and heavy industry projects. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving tough structural challenges, working on large-scale projects, and collaborating across disciplines. Senior engineers will also have the opportunity to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
What You’ll Do
- Design steel structures and concrete foundations for heavy industry projects using IBC and reference codes
- Work independently on structural projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Process)
- Provide solutions for complex or unusual structural issues
- Interact directly with clients and contribute to project planning and progress
- Conduct field work and site visits to observe construction
- Review and check drawings prepared by designers and other engineers
- Support budgets, schedules, and project tracking
- For senior-level engineers: lead structural design, manage projects, and mentor junior staff
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in structural design (preferably heavy industry)
- Licensed PE in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (RISA, STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, etc.)
- Experience with design tools such as RISA 3-D, Revit, AutoCAD, Mathcad, Excel, Hilti Profis, etc.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering
- Experience managing projects from estimation through completion
- Knowledge of OSHA, masonry design, site civil design, and regulatory permitting
- CAD drawing creation and familiarity with point clouds
- Experience with dynamic, modal, and time history analysis
- Ability to develop client relationships and lead multidisciplinary teams

- Compensation: $85,000 – $160,000 depending on experience.
- Entry-level engineers without PE: starting around $85K
- Engineers with PE and more experience: higher range up to $160K
