The Team is looking for talented data engineers to join our global group that manages KDB+ systems. We operate numerous ETL jobs that load data into a centralized, partitioned KDB+ database and replicate it globally. Additional processes support real-time analysis and reporting, alongside a framework to cache and display data across various dashboards.
Development is carried out using an agile methodology, specifically based on Kanban best practices. Therefore, candidates must be able to work collaboratively, take ownership of tasks, and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain KDB+ database infrastructure focused on stability, scalability, and capacity planning
- Perform Application DBA functions:
- Plan and execute schema changes
- Conduct performance bottleneck analysis
- Prevent and resolve outages
- Improve server/database performance
- Maintain databases and manage recovery processes
- Develop and optimize:
- Stored procedures, ETL workflows, internal tools
- Review and improve queries and stored procedures
- Enforce database security standards and best practices
Requirements
- Familiarity with KDB+
- Scripting on Linux platforms using Perl, Python, or Unix shell
- Strong understanding of relational database performance and tuning, including:
- Proper index usage
- Database statistics and reorganization
- Denormalization concepts
- Memory management
- Database configurations
- Ability to write high-quality, optimized stored procedures and queries
