We are seeking a backend engineer who can contribute across the entire software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering through design, development, deployment, and DevOps automation.
Responsibilities
- Parallelize and optimize accounting calculations using Apache Spark
- Develop and maintain RESTful backend web services to interface with other applications per predefined contracts
- Manage batch data processing, including orchestration and performance tuning
- Collaborate with a global team across multiple locations: Montreal, New York, London, Budapest, and India
Requirements
- 5–7 years of relevant experience
- Strong proficiency in Java (Spring framework) and Scala
- Hands-on experience with relational databases:
- SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, or DB2
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as:
- Hadoop, MongoDB
- Experience with Agile SDLC methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advantages
- Experience with Apache Spark for parallel data processing
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux application debugging
- Familiarity with automation scripting:
- AutoSys, shell scripting, Perl, or Python
- Exposure to front-end technologies:
- Angular, React, or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Background in accounting or finance, especially in the financial industry
- Experience in business reporting, data visualization, and data science
