This position plays a critical role in the core mission of QCI: building scalable, high-performance quantum computers. Quantum devices are superconducting circuits that require specialized handling, measurement, and analysis and your work will have a direct impact on the performance of the computer.
As a QCI Fabrication Engineer, these are the kinds of projects you’d be working on:
- Leading efforts to standardize, validate, and scale current and future nano-fabrication processes
- Operating and maintaining tools such as electron beam lithography systems, metal depositions systems, resist spinners, and wet and dry etch setups in a clean-room environment
- Optimizing fabrication procedures to maximize superconducting quantum device yield and performance
- Developing creative nano-fabrication techniques for superconducting quantum devices
What we’re looking for from you:
- Extensive experience with operating and maintaining multi-layer electron-beam lithography, thin-film deposition (e-gun and sputtering), scanning-electron microscopy, wet and dry etch tools
- Experience with fabrication of microwave superconducting devices, including process-development for Josephson junction-based devices, is preferred. This includes Dolan bridge, bridge-free, and “Manhattan”-style processes.
- Extensive experience in laboratory and cleanroom environments
- Experience with developing and troubleshooting novel fabrication processes
- PhD in physics, electrical engineering, material science or equivalent experience in industry
- A background in quantum is preferred
- Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with professionals from other fields of physics and engineering
