The Role:
We are looking for a materials scientist to improve our lamination process for solid state materials. Our ideal team member is self-motivated, can deliver against tight development schedules, has good interpersonal skills, can work independently as well as in teams and enjoys working on challenging and impactful projects.
In this role, you will:
Characterize physical properties of solid state materials and understand their physical limitations
Design a platform to laminate these materials that minimizes the damage to the materials while maintain good performance
Come up with a scalable approach to achieve the performance reputably
Define physical and electrochemical specifications for the materials of interest
Introduce and qualify new processes to our baseline process
Perform under pressure in fast paced environment

Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience:
You possess a BSME l e (or a related field) with 3 years' industry experience or a MS degree in Materials Science
You love working closely with a team in an energizing and fast paced environment
You share our real passion for our mission
Good interpersonal and communication skills allow you to effectively deliver in a R&D environment
You are familiar with electrochemistry and interface characterizations
Knowledge of safe laboratory practices, especially in handling chemicals
Ability to perform work in a glovebox, dry room or fume hood
Motivated to learn new techniques and refine existing techniques
Clear written and verbal skills to logically communicate ideas and thought processes
Motivated and capable of working independently and within a team
Nice to Haves
MS and 1+ years of experience in battery research
Good understanding of ceramic materials mechanical properties, tribology
You are familiar with interface characterizations
Well versed in bulk and surface analysis techniques: XPS, XRD, SIMS, Raman, DMA, mechanical testing
You are disciplined in your approach and rely on the application of statistical methods for experiment planning, data analysis, and process control
