Are you passionate about energy storage and ready to contribute in the race for a better battery? QuantumScape is a well-funded start-up located in San Jose, California, and is working on a revolutionary solid-state battery technology for energy storage. We are seeking a motivated and diligent day-shift technician to support solid-state cathode process development. The role is to perform coating and lamination process and work with scientists to improve the process.


Operate coating and lamination machines, including setup, cleanup, troubleshooting, basic quality control, and minimal maintenance
Identify and characterize defects with visual inspection and microscopy
Build stacks into cells for electrical testing
Complete production documentation accurately and timely
Shift Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Use of fine motor skills for extended periods of time, standing, reaching and twisting motions with hands. Dexterity to perform work in a glovebox, dry room and fume hood
Able to quickly adapt to rapidly evolving processes and learn new processes; follow procedures to efficiently run equipment and handle chemicals safely
You love working closely with a team in an energizing and fast-paced environment; you share our real passion for our mission
One year or more of hands-on experiences in R&D laboratory or mechanical shops
Clear written and verbal skills to logically communicate ideas and thought processes

Nice to haves:

A technical degree from a 2-year program or more
>2 years’ experience in the battery industry
Hand-on experience in pellet press or other densification techniques
Experience in powder process, e.g. batching, mixing, milling, spraying
Basic knowledge of wet chemistry and/or quality control
