We are a well-funded start-up located in San Jose, California with a new energy storage technology that will allow electric vehicles to outperform internal combustion cars. We have enabled a step-change in performance with a different chemistry and cell architecture that also benefits safety.
Do you want to make a contribution to this critical part of the future energy economy? As a member of our analytical team, you will develop state-of-the-art material characterization methods to convert physical signal to electrical signal and versa vice!

Job Responsibilities:

Develop sophisticated analytical techniques and methods to understand cell performance and support company wide R&D activities, such as material screening, incoming material control, process control and improvement, and failure analysis.
Manage instruments in analytical team, including tracking sample submission queues, setting up test methods, writing SOP, training users, scheduling PM, troubleshooting and performing basic repair
Perform measurement system analysis (MSA) on analytical instruments. Run QC samples routinely and monitor instrument performance closely.

Minimum Requirements:

B.S. degree in material science, chemical engineering or related field
>2 years' hand-on experience and in-depth understanding in surface characterization, such as x ray photoelectron spectroscopy, secondary ion mass spectrometry, Auger electron microscopy and contact angle measurement
Basic knowledge in statistics data analysis and MSA
Basic knowledge and understanding in battery electrical test
Good collaboration, presentation and writing skills; ability to delivery clear and effective communication
Ability to perform work in a glovebox, dry room and fume hood

Nice to haves

> 2 years' research experience in battery materials
Experience and knowledge in Raman and FTIR
JMP and Python
