We are a stealth start-up energy storage technology company, located in San Jose, California and we are working on a fundamental disruption in the field of energy storage. We seek to change the paradigm in energy storage by developing a completely new class of electrical energy storage device. Our technology could revolutionize the industry. We are backed by top VC firms and based on work done by researchers at Stanford University.
We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff to join our team and drive continuous improvement efforts of existing methods and support development of new materials processing techniques to increase product performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

Own and continuously improving existing coating, stacking and sintering processes, establish requirements and physical specifications.
Work on the floor with technicians and other engineers for >50% of your time for process development, solving problems and ensuring quality control.
Test hypotheses by applying your knowledge of engineering statistics and design of experiment concepts to methodically plan and execute process experiments and yield conclusive results.
Analyze data and effectively communicate your results to management.
Develop and maintain drawings, operating procedures, and work instructions.
Develop tools and processes to stack and assemble thin films to meet specifications.
Drive the development of fixtures, secondary tooling and QC test equipment.
Technology transfer to in-house or 3rd party functional groups.
Work in accordance with all safety procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirement:

You possess a B.S. in ceramic engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical or process engineering
You have at least 2 years of experience in a process development role at a University or manufacturing facility where you were responsible for defining design and process requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
You have some experience using data analysis softwares.
You are self-motivated, strong communicator, believe in team-work and have a track record of learning new skills and techniques and applying those to achieve result.
You thrive in a fast paced, technically challenging environment and quickly adapt to changes.
Able and willing to travel domestically up to 20%.

Highly Desired:

MS or higher degree in materials, mechanical, Ceramic, electrical or chemical engineering
Experience working within an operations and/or manufacturing teams
Practical knowledge of six sigma methodologies is a plus.
High temperature furnace or processing experience
Experience developing and tooling to deliver results on time and within budget.
Experience working in cross functional teams delivering breakthrough process improvements.
Experience of supervising junior level engineers or technicians

Physical Requirements:

May work with airtight isolation chambers and/or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time.
May frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist.
May be required to use hand or power tools.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, lift, push and extend arms.
