We are looking to grow our team with the addition of a disciplined, high performing research and development scientist who is looking for technical challenges and professional growth.
As a ceramic scientist on our team, you will invent and develop new material processing techniques to increase product performance and reliability and drive continuous improvement efforts of existing methods.
In this role you will:
Develop ceramic coating formulation and sintering processes for specialized ceramic materials.
Propose and invent new processing approaches and continuously improve existing ones
Validate hypotheses by applying your knowledge of engineering statistics and design of experiment concepts to methodically plan and execute experiments and yield conclusive results .
Summarize and communicate your results to management
Develop and maintain drawings, operating procedures, and work instructions and provide training to junior engineers, technicians, and operators.
Transfer technology to in-house or 3rd-party functional groups, as needed
Work in accordance with all safety procedures
Education & Experience
M.S. or higher degree in ceramic engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years experience in ceramic processing
Clear command of ceramic material structure-property relationships
Work history in a manufacturing or process development environment
Experience with direct or indirect management of junior-level engineers or technicians
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Self-motivated with a track record of learning new skills and techniques and applying those to achieve desired results.
Experience working in multi-functional team delivering breakthrough process improvements.
Comfort with fast paced, technically challenging projects and ability to adapt quickly to changes.
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ph.D. degree in materials science, ceramic engineering, or chemical engineering with experience in tape casting, rheology and particle size control
