We are looking for a materials scientist to focus on lithium ion battery materials development and characterization. Our ideal team member is self-motivated, can deliver against tight development schedules, has good interpersonal skills, can work independently as well as in teams and enjoys working on challenging and impactful projects.

In this role, you will:
Drive materials development from synthesizing materials to assembling functional electrochemical cells. This includes screening and assessing the materials that fit our design criteria at component levels; developing processes to integrate the target material into our test platform; evaluating the materials performance in the integrated test platform and identify the gaps to our design; proposing approaches to close the gap
Define physical and electrochemical specifications for the materials of interest
Introduce and qualify new processes to our baseline process
Perform under pressure in fast paced environment

Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience:
You have a PhD in materials science with academic experience or master with 3 years of industry experience in the following areas:
You are familiar with electrochemistry and interface characterizations of batteries
You have strong working knowledge of battery materials physical characterization
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of safe laboratory practices, especially in handling chemicals
Ability to perform work in a glovebox, dry room or fume hood
Motivated to learn new techniques and refine existing techniques
Clear written and verbal skills to logically communicate ideas and thought processes
Motivated and capable of working independently and within a team

Nice to Haves
PhD and 3+ years of experience in battery research
Familiar with electrochemical testing for energy storage devices: CV, EIS
Well versed in bulk and surface analysis techniques: XPS, XRD, SIMS, Raman, DMA, mechanical testing
Understands statistical process control and strives to implement the control, DFMEA and PFMEA
