We’re looking for a sharp Corporate Controller with prior SaaS software industry experience and revenue recognition experience to join our team. You will provide accounting leadership and accounting support to the organization.

Quest Analytics is a fast-growing PE-owned software company with 25% YoY growth headquartered in the Kansas City area. You'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Company’s accounting records, maintaining the integrity of the internal control environment and managing all aspects of the monthly financial close. You'll also be responsible for supporting FP&A in the monthly financial reporting and overseeing all compliance functions for the Company including, monthly close, income tax filings, sales tax filings, and property tax filings. This role will lead the accounting team and reports to the CFO.  

The ideal candidate is a CPA who can roll up their sleeves and lead our accounting function while ensuring accounting best practices to help us continue to grow. #LI-Remote

What you will be doing:

    • Maintains all accounting records consistent with GAAP and company policies. Ensures general ledger accounts are reconciled and analyzed monthly, and that all significant issues are brought to the attention of the CFO in a timely manner.
    • Mentoring and managing accounting department team members f. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, motivating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Accounting Operations Manage and oversee all billing, collections, payables and other accounting operational activities
    • Bank Covenant Reporting Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of monthly and quarterly bank covenant reports.
    • Financial Reporting Provides support to FP&A lead in the preparation of a monthly financial reporting package for the Company to its private equity parent and its business units and departments.
    • Tax Prepares quarterly tax provision and reviews with external tax advisors, oversees sales tax return preparation sales tax compliance, facilitates federal and state tax return preparation with external accountants.
    • Audit Management Plans, coordinates, and manages the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the Company’s financial statements and control environment with outside audit firms.
    • Revenue Recognition Reviews customer contracts to ensure the terms of the contract are consistent with SOP 97-2 and related guidance. Additionally, each contract should be evaluated to ensure we understand how the revenue for the contract should be accounted for, and that the terms of the contract do not jeopardize the accounting treatment for other contracts.
    • Technical Research Takes the lead role in researching technical accounting, tax and compliance subjects. Prepares technical memos summarizing the findings and the related recommendations.
    • Mergers and Acquisitions Takes a lead role in managing and/or coordinating the due diligence and integration of target companies in conjunction with other staff and outside professionals.
    • Accounting Internal Controls Implement processes, policies and practices to ensure proper internal controls are in place and are monitored accordingly.
    • Ongoing Participate in the training and/or mentoring programs as assigned or required.

Requirements to be successful:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master’s degree is a plus
    • CPA required
    • Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience at a SaaS software company required
    • Auditing or equivalent experience preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years management experience with the demonstrated ability to mentor and manage subordinates in a fast growing environment
    • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and software revenue recognition
    • Enterprise accounting software experience (NetSuite, Sage, Intacct, etc.)
    • Private equity reporting and internal control procedures a plus
    • Superior analytical and technical skills combined with the ability to get into the details of basic accounting issues that impact the company yet understand the broader business and strategic issues faced by the company.
    • Strong generalist, well-versed in accounting operations and able to deal with rapidly changing business priorities.
    • Ability to work with sales to assist in closing software deals
    • Strong drive for results and success; conveys a sense of urgency and drives issues to closure; persists despite obstacles, and ambiguity and opposition
    • Well-developed analytical skills, project management and problem-solving skills
    • Above-average Excel knowledge and Microsoft applications
    • Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask
    • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based organization, with strong relationship skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Able to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
