We are looking for a Principal Technical Programme Manager to join our group of technologists, industry SMEs and thought leaders in the digital currencies space. You will manage the internal programme of work to deliver for our largest and most strategic customers, taking responsibility for overseeing and coordinating multiple projects both internal and client facing. You’ll need to balance client needs against R3’s product vision to deliver reusable product which meets our strategic goals.

You will need solid technical project management experience with either hands-on experience or a strong understanding of distributed technologies or large-scale n-tier technologies leveraging AWS or Azure. You must know how to get the most out of the teams, complementing your organisational skills and attention to detail. You will have a strong foresight for potential challenges and risks and devise plans to address and mitigate these. Your primary stakeholders will include R3’s executives from their commercial, engineering, and professional services divisions, as well as workstream leads, project managers, and client facing programme managers.

Key Responsibilities - Programme Coordination:

    • Manage, coordinate and lead a large programme of work with high complexity under which lie multiple other projects including, but not limited to, technical, legal, product, customer facing workstreams from up to 100 people across different teams and competencies, ensuring delivery on time, quality and budget.
    • Coordinate delivery with external parties, including partners contracted by R3, client delivery teams, and third-party firms working on the client engagement.
    • Manage the delivery of a reusable software product that can be used on a key client engagement and future engagements, ensuring delivery meets the client's requirements and expectations as well as our quality standards and best practices.
    • Work with Engineering, Product Management, QA, customer-facing teams, and project managers across the business to ensure workstreams are aligned and delivering value.

Key Responsibilities - Stakeholder Management:

    • Own and deliver key internal program management artefacts such as program plans, raid logs, dashboards, and status reports by coordinating reporting from other workstreams. 
    • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Engineering Officer, Head of Professional Services.
    • Collaborate with project/program managers leading individual workstreams.

Key Responsibilities - Governance and Risk Management:

    • Drive program governance activities with key stakeholders across relevant workstreams.
    • Manage the overall program budget.
    • Be the point of contact for internal delivery escalations and providing visibility to internal stakeholders on the progress of work.
    • Monitor and manage programme risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple streams of work led by project managers, proactively identifying and implement mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities - Communication and Reporting:

    • Prepare regular and detailed progress reports, status updates, and presentations for key stakeholders, highlighting achievements, milestones, and challenges.
    • Continuously and proactively improve the R3 internal program level artefacts, creating reusable templates and toolsets where possible.

Qualifications & Attributes:

    • 10+ years of experience managing large enterprise projects with multiple workstreams, typically within complex organisations across client facing and internal teams.
    • Previous experience in delivering large-scale projects focussing on commercial or central banks.
    • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams and deliver results under pressure and ambiguity.
    • Experience working internationally and cross-team/competencies, culturally sensitive and adaptable, and experience working in or with clients from the Gulf is advantageous.
    • Strong knowledge and experience in agile methodology and software development lifecycle including software engineering, testing, and quality assurance.
    • Stakeholder management at multiple levels, ranging from leading technical discussions to managing executive level conversations.
    • Strong communication skills, able to clearly articulate risks and navigate complex dependencies with other parts of R3.
    • Be well-versed in implementing cloud-native multi-service products in financial services.
    • Understanding of DLT / Blockchain technologies is beneficial, including Corda or EVM.
    • Atlassian Jira & Confluence experience is an advantage.
