As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support and implementing solutions related to implementing & supporting the firewall estate andsecurity environment by the team's operating practices.

The engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to providea high level of technical support to our customers via the phone, ticketing system, and automation.  This role owns complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve and keeps our customers updated through every step of the process.  Responsible for the engineering, design, and development of hardware, software, and networking security systems. Provides a framework for system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts. Implements standards and guidelines of support. Analyses systems and performance usability testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements.

You will be expected to take initiative and advise on potential pitfalls that a customer may encounter and suggest alternatives which may better serve the stability and security of the customer's solution. Keeps informed of emerging technologies.  Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed. 

On-site role based in Riyadh, KSA.

Responsibilities

    • Network Infrastructure Design and Implementation: 
    • Supporting and operatingthe Palo Alto security environment, making necessary adjustments and improvements. 
    • Supporting and operatingthe FortiGate security environment, making necessary adjustments and improvements. 
    • Supporting and operating NSX distributed and NSX gatewayfirewallsecurity environment, making necessary adjustments and improvements. 
    • Supporting network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. 
    • Configuring and maintainingfirewall services to ensure high availability and optimal performance. 

    • Platform Management and Optimization: 
    • Monitor and optimise the performance of firewall security environments. 
    • Managing security platforms and systems such as VPNs, security policy, application security, and Logging. 
    • Optimizing security platforms for scalability, reliability, and security. 

    • Security and Compliance: 
    • Implementing and enforcing network security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. 
    • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices for network security. 

    • Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: 
    • Monitoring network performance, analysing traffic patterns, and identifying areas for improvement. 
    • Investigating and resolving firewall issues, including performance degradation and connectivity problems. 

    • Collaboration and Integration: 
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate network services with other IT systems and applications. 
    • Working closely with infrastructure, network, and operations teams to align firewall infrastructure with organisational goals. 

    • Documentation and Reporting: 
    • Creating and maintaining documentation for firewall configurationsand procedures. 
    • Generating reports on firewall performance, capacity planning, and utilization metrics. 

Requirements

    • Proven experience as a security engineer with a successful track record of designing and deploying firewall solutions with Palo Alto, FortiGate and NSX
    • Proven experience in Palo Alto with Panorama and PAN-OS
    • Proven experience on FortiGate with Forti manager, Forti Analyzer and FortiOS
    • Proven experience on NSX with NSX distributed firewall and Gateway firewall.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Proven experience in supporting and managing enterprise-level firewall infrastructure and platforms.
    • Proficiency in network protocols, routing, switching, and network security principles.
    • Strong knowledge of firewall technologies, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
    • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
    • Solid understanding of data centre networking technologies, including VLANs, VXLAN, OSPF, BGP, and VRF.
    • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and network vitalisation concepts.

Additional Skills (optional):

    • Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Fortinet NSE and or Fortinet FCP, Palo Alto PCNSA and or PCNSE.
    • Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) concepts and technologies.
    • Knowledge of cloud networking principles and hybrid cloud environments.
